Lackawanna County Celebrates the signing of the Declaration of Independence 250 years ago, on July 4th 2026! In honor of the AMERICA 250 nationwide event!
On July 4, 2026, our nation will commemorate and celebrate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. The journey toward this historic milestone is an opportunity to pause and reflect on our nation’s past, honor the contributions of all Americans, and look ahead toward the future we want to create for the next generation and beyond.
January 2026 Lackawanna County will award one, $1000 grant to each of our 40 municipalities who creates a community project or adds to an already established event celebrating their town and its history through 2026! (Municipalities may work together, only one town needs to apply, each town will still recieve $1000 each towards the chosen project.)
The project be included as part of the list of 250 events going on during the year with special marketing and America 250 PA media coverage.
These funds must align with the goals of America 250 PA.
Other organizations may partner on a project but one municiplaity will apply.
Municipality leaders must fill out application.

Appplications will close on December 1st and Awards will be announced in January 2026.
