Jason Lowndes was an elite cyclist from Bendigo, who rode professionally around the world. He marked many achievements in his career, racing across Australia, North & South America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia.
Jason was tragically killed in 2017 whilst on a training ride in Mandurang, aged just 23. He is remembered for his strength and determination in cycling and the drive to live his life to the fullest.
The Goldfields Cycle Sports Club, in conjunction with the Lowndes family, would like to honour Jason as a cyclist with outstanding potential, an amazing young man with a big heart and hope to create a legacy that all up and coming cyclists can aspire to.
The committee will award $5000 each, to a Male & Female cyclist based on their performances and achievements during the 2025 year. The scholarship is to aid cyclists, with the potential and desire to further their careers internationally, to compete and gain race experience.
The Scholarship is open to residents of the Victorian Goldfields region, all disciplines of cycling, submissions can be made by an individual cyclist or a Club on behalf of a cyclist. The scholarship committee will consist of high-profile athletes or individuals within the cycling community, who will make their decision based on the above criteria, their decision will be final.
The scholarship must be used exclusively to support their cycling growth, for such things as equipment & equipment maintenance, sport specific clothing and safety gear, travel expenses or entry fees.
2025 Junior Award - Under 17yrs
The Goldfields Cycle Sports Club will once again award a scholarship prize to a Junior rider.
Submissions are now open and will close October 31st, 2025.
