GOTA station operator requirements...
Licensed Operators
The GOTA station may be operated by any person licensed since the previous year’s Field Day, regardless of license class. It may also be operated by a generally inactive licensee.
Non-licensed operators
Non-licensed persons may participate under the direct supervision of an appropriate control operator. We will have a GOTA supervisors available during the event.
Our interpretation / clarification:
"a generally inactive licensee is one who has made less than 100 CW/Digital/RTTY/SSB QSO's since last Field Day. Participation in QSO parties, contests such as CQ Worldwide, WPX, Sweepstakes since last Field Day is OK, as long as the 100 QSO limit has not been exceeded.
Participation in SOTA / POTA is also OK as long as the activation count is less than 10. POTA needs a minimum QSO count of 10 to activate a park and SOTA has a minimum QSO count of 4 to activate (get credit) for a summit.
You can also operate the GOTA station if your primary mode which exceeds 100 QSOs is different than what you will operate in the GOTA station.
Example 1- You participate in the WPX SSB Contest and have made 101 QSOs or greater only is SSB. It will be OK to operate the GOTA Station using CW/Digital
Example 2 - You primarily operated FT8 since last Field Day. It is OK to operate the GOTA station in SSB, CW. Compliance is on the honor system."
