About the Cornea Research Foundation:
Founded by Dr. Francis W. Price, Jr. in 1988, the Cornea Research Foundation of America (CRFA) has helped give people back the use of their eyes through research, education, and innovation.
Our partnership with Price Vision Group and collaborations with leading research institutions globally has fueled the completion of nearly 300 research studies on vision conditions such as Fuchs' dystrophy, keratoconus, corneal edema, glaucoma, cataracts, dry eye and more. Price Vision Group does more cornea transplants annually than any other center in the country and we are the only center tracking long term outcomes. We now follow more than 13,000 cornea transplants.
Our major accomplishments include pioneering and later optimizing DSEK and DMEK cornea transplant techniques, helping evaluate numerous drugs and devices for use in the U.S., and conducting studies on post-transplant eye drop use that virtually eliminated the risk of developing steroid-induced glaucoma, previously the most common complication after a transplant, and much more!
In addition to research, we educate ophthalmic surgeons on the latest surgical techniques, optometrists on what to look for and when to refer, and the public on new breakthroughs that result in better visual outcomes for those with complex cornea problems. Looking forward, our hope is to prevent the need for cornea transplants. We have a wide range of projects underway and look forward to keeping you updated.
