Jackson County Open Youth Beef Livestock Show

Open to all Ages 7 – 23 as of January 1, 2026
**Does not need to be resident of Jackson County to enter**
1. Exhibitors must be between 7 – 23 years of age as of January 1, 2026 to show.
2. A Peewee Showmanship Class will be offered to Age 6 and younger who want to show at no charge for entry. Peewee Exhibitors are permitted to have an assistant in the ring with them and are not required to own the livestock they show. Peewee entries will receive a ribbon but are not eligible for premium award.
3. Entry deadline is Saturday, August 22nd, including copies of registration paperwork (if applicable). Entry Form available at https://www.jacksoncountyalfair.com/fall-fair.
4. Age of Head: Heifers must be born after September 1, 2024
Steers must be born after September 1, 2025
5. Entry Fees: Showmanship Class: $10.00 (except @ Peewee - $0)
Breed, Commercial & Market Classes: $15 per head shown
**Make checks payable to: Jackson County Fair Association (JCFA)** We cannot guarantee receipt of entry fees if mailed.
6. Number of Entries: No more than two (2) entries per Class in Commercial, Market or Breed Classes per Exhibitor. Only one (1) entry per Exhibitor in Showmanship.
7. Entry Registration: **Deadline for complete entry registration is August 22nd** Complete online Entry Form and then email copy of registration papers (if applicable) to JCFACattleShow@gmail.com. Credit Card payments incur a 3% processing fee. JCFA cannot guarantee receipt of entry fees if mailed.
8. Email Address: A valid email address is required for communicating confirmation of entry, instructions on access to Fairgrounds on day of show, loading/unloading procedures, location of designated truck & trailer parking, and providing Alabama Department of Agriculture & Industries Bulletins, Biosecurity Measures and/or other applicable notices prior to the Cattle Show.
9. Classes: Classes will be determined after all entries are received and weigh-ins completed day of Show. Classes require three (3) or more head of same breed to be judged in a Breed-Specific Class. If there are less than three (3) entries of any specific breed entered, those head will be shown in AOB Class (“All Other Breed”).
10. Showmanship Classes show youngest to oldest Exhibitor. Head shown in Showmanship Class can be Registered or Grade and can be either a Heifer or a Steer in Showmanship Classes. JCFA understands the head you register for Showmanship may change by day of show due to temperment and other factors. Please submit alternate Head to show in notes section of Entry Registration if you think there may be a change.
11. Breeding Heifer Classes show youngest to oldest head and must be Registered.
12. Commercial Heifers and Market Steers show lightest to heaviest Classes (lightweight, mediumweight, then heavyweight) and head can be Registered or Grade.
13. Hay, feed, water buckets and other incidentals must be furnished by Exhibitor. JCFA will provide shavings for bedding, access to potable water, wash rack for bathing, electrical outlet for fans in the barn (limited number available), and truck and trailer designated parking. For convenience to Participants JCFA will provide a UTV suitable to haul incidentals to facilitate Participant’s travel between the Cattle Barn and trailers. A JCFA driver/operator will be provided for the UTV at all times.
14. Premium Awards: Exhibitors are bound by ‘Exhibitor Information & General Rules’ and Premium Payouts will be conducted per Rule #27.
15. Premium Amounts: (1st thru 5th premium, Grand Champion & Reserve Champion per Class)
1st - $30; 2nd - $25; 3rd - $20; 4th - $15; 5th - $10
Grand Champion $50 Reserve Champion $40
Showmanship Champion $50 + custom buckle (one awarded per Show)
Supreme Show Champion $75 + custom buckle (one awarded per Show)
16. DIVISIONS and CLASSES: JCFA reserves the right to adjust classes in the best interest of the Show
§ Showmanship: Peewee (Age 6 and under)
Junior (Age 7 – 11)
Intermediate (Age 12 – 16)
Senior (Age 17+)
§ Breeding Heifers (must be registered)
§ Commercial Heifers Lightweight
(registered or grade) Mediumweight
Heavyweight
§ Market Steers Lightweight

17. Day-of-Show: Commercial Heifers and Market Steers must be on the Fairgrounds by 3:00p and weighed-in by 4:00p. All others must be onsite by 4:00p. Gate 1 on Heroes Drive (northernmost gate) will open at 11:30a day of show for entry onto Fairgrounds and offloading at Cattle Barn.
18. Each paid Participant in the Cattle Show will be provided with three (3) armbands to be used for Gate Admission when they arrive day of show. One armband is for Participant and two armbands are provided for family members such as parent, grandparent or guardian. Armbands provided are for Gate Admission only and do not apply to rides. Additional armbands may be purchased day of show from JCFA for $5 each (cash or check payable to JCFA only) before 3:30p. Anyone without an armband (other than authorized JCFA volunteers) will be required to exit the Fairground by 3:45p and then re-enter through the Admission Gates at 4:00p with paid admission.
19. The Cattle Show will begin at 6:00p
20. The Livestock Judge’s decision is final.
21. Livestock will be shown at Exhibitor’s/Owner’s sole liability and risk. JCFA is not responsible for any loss/injury and shall be held harmless and indemnified from any such actions or lawsuits.
22. No food allowed in the Cattle Barn.
23. No weapons, drugs, or alcoholic beverages allowed on Fairgrounds.
