Juneau International Airport – Emergency Live Drill Exercises Participation

Assumption of Risk, Release and Indemnification Agreement

On July 26, 2025, the Juneau International Airport (JNU) will be conducting a full-scale emergency exercise. For JNU to meet the criteria of FAA regulations, a full scale emergency plan exercise simulating an accident involving the largest scheduled air carrier aircraft will be conducted. JNU requests volunteers to participate as victims, victim’s family and friends (mourners), as well as set up and clean up.

As a volunteer, to participate in the JNU full-scale emergency exercise, I agree to the following:

I acknowledge there are inherent mental and physical risks in participating in this airport flight disaster simulation, including the risk of bodily injury and/or emotional distress from viewing a simulated disaster.

I acknowledge the importance of following directions given to me by the JNU personnel and emergency responders, and I agree to comply with all such directions. My participation in this activity is purely voluntary, and I elect to participate in spite of the risks.

I understand that JNU does not assume responsibility for my safety or my personal property while I participate in this emergency exercise. I fully acknowledge that no reason exists as to why I should not participate in the live drill at the JNU such as any physical or mental condition, which might affect my abilities to safely participate in the exercise. I understand and agree that my participation is entirely voluntary and that I am responsible for ensuring that my participation in this exercise is within my physical and mental abilities.

Waiver and Release:

By my signature below and in consideration of my participation in the JNU exercises, or the participation by the minor for whom I sign below, I waive and release the CBJ, its employees, and its agents from all liability, loss, and/or damage claim or cause of action, known or unknown, including but not limited to physical or mental injury, property damage, and wrongful death, that I may have against the CBJ, its employees, and its agents, for any and all injuries, damages, or death incurred in relation to the emergency live drill exercise, including those caused by the negligence of the CBJ, unless my injuries, damages or death is caused by the gross neglect of the CBJ or its employees or agents. By signing this agreement, I intend to release the CBJ from liability with respect to any damages or injuries caused by the unavoidable and inherent risks involved in participating in the JNU live emergency drill exercises. My signature below indicates that I have had sufficient opportunity to read this document, and that I have read it, that I understand it, and that I understand that it affects my legal rights, and the legal rights of any minor I am signing on behalf of, and I agree to be bound by these terms both for myself and as the legal guardian of the minor whose name appears below.
