  • Kill the Cuts Town Hall RSVP

August 11, 5-6:30 pm, Kane Hall Auditorium
  • UAW Academic Workers have a plan to save scientific research in the US--and with it, all of higher education.

Join your colleagues and community on August 11, 5-6:30pm, for a town hall with Congressperson Pramila Jayapal to demand increased federal funding for scientific research in the 2026 federal budget and an end to the political targeting of research and education.

Academic Workers have successfully fought for increases in NIH grant payments and blocking many funding cuts through Kill the Cuts rallies and lawsuits. This September, Congress is drafting the 2026 federal budget—and proposing devastating cuts: a 43% cut to the NIH, a 57% cut to the NSF, and major reductions across other research agencies and higher education funding.

Now, higher ed workers across the country are organizing town halls with elected officials to demand increased research funding in the 2026 federal budget. Be one of the hundreds of people who call on our elected officials to rally all their colleagues on both sides of the aisle to stand up for the research and education we need.

  • Town Hall Question and Answer

During the Q&A section of the town hall attendees will have the chance to hear from Rep. Jayapal directly! We will not be able to ask every question submitted on this form, but we will do our best to combine similar questions.
  • 📸 Optional: Help show the public what research we work on! 📸

Workers are sharing short blurbs and photos to post on social media as part of our campaign to stop the federal research funding cuts. Share what research project work on and why it's important, as well as what's at stake if funding is cut. Your story can help build public support!

Don’t have this ready now? No problem - you can submit the form first and come back later to add your photo/quote using the edit link in your confirmation email.
