I am applying for a Volunteer position with The RISE Community and acknowledge that I have read and accept these conditions below.
The RISE Community is a non-profit organization whose mission is to build a supportive community of belonging that empowers individuals with disabilities through meaningful social engagement and work opportunities, aiming to provide purpose and foster authentic connections. As a volunteer, I wish to serve alongside these individuals who are work as Artisans of The RISE Community and engage with them as they participate in various activities. As a volunteer, I understand I am serving in a volunteer capacity and that no compensation is expected in return for the services I provide as a volunteer. There will be no benefits traditionally associated with employment as a volunteer with The RISE Community, and all volunteers are responsible for their own insurance coverage should there be a personal injury or illness as a result of volunteer services at The RISE Community.
(1) Waiver and Release:
I, the volunteer, hereby release, discharge, and hold harmless The RISE Community and its affiliates from any and all liability, claims, or demands of any kind—whether legal or equitable—that may arise from the services I provide to The RISE Community. I understand that this Waiver and Release absolves The RISE Community of any responsibility for claims relating to bodily injury, illness, death, or property damage that may result from or occur while I am performing volunteer or contracted services.
(2) Insurance:
I acknowledge that The RISE Community does not assume any responsibility to provide me with financial or other forms of assistance, including—but not limited to—medical, health, disability benefits, or insurance coverage in the event of injury or medical expenses incurred during my service.
(3) Medical Treatment:
I release and forever discharge The RISE Community from any claims related to first-aid treatment or other medical services rendered in connection with any emergency during my time volunteering with the organization.
(4) Assumption of Risk:
I understand that some tasks I may undertake at The RISE Community involve inherent risks. I voluntarily assume full responsibility for any risks of injury, illness, death, or property damage that may arise from my participation and hereby release The RISE Community from all associated liability.
(5) Photographic Release:
I grant full rights and ownership to The RISE Community for any photographs, images, video, or audio recordings taken of me during my volunteer work. This includes use of my likeness and voice for any organizational purposes.
(6) Dress Code and Professionalism:
As a representative of The RISE Community, I agree to maintain personal cleanliness and appropriate grooming. My attire should be neat, clean, and suitable for the work being performed. Wearing The RISE Community t-shirts is encouraged. I also commit to professional conduct at all times—this includes refraining from the use of foul language, demeaning remarks, harassment, or discriminatory behavior, all of which are strictly prohibited.
(7) Other Provisions:
I understand and agree that this Waiver and Release is intended to be as broad and inclusive as permitted under Texas law and will be interpreted accordingly. If any provision is found to be invalid, the remaining provisions shall remain fully enforceable.
(8) Background Check Acknowledgment:
I acknowledge that I am required to undergo a background check before beginning my volunteer service with The RISE Community.
