    Lavender Youth Alliance Application

    Please fill out the application below in order to join the Lavender Youth Alliance program. The program aims to support LGBTQIA+ students, allies, and families of youth in grades 6-12 that attend any middle or high school in the City of Pomona.

  • Program Goals & Expectations

  • Program Goals:

    1. To foster mentoring relationships between middle/high school students and a Youth Engagement Specialist that will offer support, guidance, and resources to students.

    2. To encourage members of the LGBTQIA+ community to pursue higher education and career opportunities through academic and career planning. 

    3. To provide support for students who are in the process of coming out, or who feel they are currently unable to come out.

    4. To increase visibility of diverse LGBTQIA+ community members, professionals, and successes within the Pomona Valley region. 

    5. To provide helpful resources to students as they explore issues related to personal development and identity support plans.

    6. To help connect students to the larger LGBTQIA+ community.

    7. To support students with personal development inside and outside of the classroom and other formal settings.

    8. To provide mentorship, coaching, tutoring resources, and support to students.

    9. To provide experiences, excursions and safe events for LGBTQIA+ students in PUSD.

    10.  Provide support to families including, but not limited to, resources and programming. 

    Student Expectations:

    1. Commit and maintain the mentoring relationship and program for at least one academic semester, preferably an academic year.

    2. Meet with the mentor and a Youth Engagement Specialist at least once per month (virtual meetings or in-person meetings). 

    3. Attend workshops and activities hosted by the Pomona Valley Pride and provide feedback regarding programs and activities.
