CE Credits: Eligible participants will receive 2 BCBA, APA, NBCC, PA SW/LPC/MFT, and/or ACT 48 Credits upon completion of course requirements.
Child Guidance Resource Centers (CGRC) is approved by the National Board for Certified Counselors, Inc., the American Psychological Association, Pennsylvania State Board of Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapists, and Professional Counselors, the Behavior Analyst Certification Board, and the Pennsylvania Department of Education (ACT 48) to award continuing education credits to eligible participants.
Description: This engaging and practical training is designed to equip clinicians, educators, and service providers with the tools they need to support a smooth, empowering transition to adulthood for both youth with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and their families. The session explores key challenges and opportunities in the transition process, offering evidence-based strategies to promote independence, self-advocacy, and life skills. Participants will gain practical tools to help families navigate access to education, employment, and housing while also fostering emotional well-being and strong family dynamics during this critical life stage.
Course Format: This 2-hour course will be held on-line via Zoom. The course will include a PowerPoint presentation, case studies, and practical strategies for participants supporting individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder and their families when transitioning to adulthood.
Course Objectives: This course is intended to enable participants to:
- Understand the key challenges and opportunities during the transition to adulthood for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
- Learn evidence-based strategies for supporting independence, self-advocacy, and life skills development.
- Explore resources for accessing education, employment and housing.
- Gain tools for fostering emotional well-being and maintain strong family dynamics during transitions.
