  • Rotarians who need training for Grants Qualification must complete and pass this test. Your test results will automatically be sent to the District Grants chair to review. The Grants chair will get back with you in a couple of days.

  • 1. The first step in applying for a district grant is to log in to the District 5450 website, click on “Member Area” then click on Grants, then on “Submit a Grant Request.”*
  • 2. Project reporting must include receipts for expenses and the receipt of grant funds.*
  • 3. It is NOT necessary to list the cash and DDF/Grant income separately in the Budget area of the grant application.*
  • 4. The expected expenses and income must be listed separately in the Budget section of the grant application.*
  • 5. A COOPERATING ORGANIZATION provides expertise, training, infrastructure, advocacy or another form of support essential to project completion.*
  • 6. Grant funds may be held in an all-purpose club account that includes the Club Foundation AND grant projects.*
  • 7. A potential conflict of interest by the sponsoring club MAY prevent approval of the grant.*
  • 8. If the district grant application has not been completed within 90 days of submission, the grant will be cancelled.*
  • 9. “Rotarian Participation” is required for district grant approval. At least two of the following should happen. In this context, “participation” refers to hands-on involvement or assessment of community needs or development and implementation of the project plan or financial stewardship but does NOT include fundraising.*
  • 10. District grant awards EXCLUDE continuous or excessive support of any entity, vocational teams, Youth Exchange, RYLA, travel for assessments, travel for monitoring, travel for project completion, travel for community celebrations, building construction or purchase, microcredit projects, fundraising expenses, and unrestricted cash donations. However, the awards INCLUDE travel for essential services related to the project.*
  • 11. There is no limit on how much DDF a club can use as long as the district still has funds available.*
  • 12. A final report is due within two months of completion of the project.*
  • 13. Having a delinquent report can prevent the club from obtaining future grants until the reporting is current.*
  • 14. Once the District has approved DDF for a GLOBAL grant, TRF funding is automatically ensured.*
  • 15. RI provides grant advisors as essential resources in working through global grants.*
  • 16. GLOBAL DDF contributions are matched 100% by The Rotary Foundation (TRF).*
  • 17. The maximum DDF available for a Global project is $6,000 per club.*
  • 18. Global projects recommend but do not require a community assessment.*
  • 19. The Global Host Club’s responsibilities include managing funds and overseeing the project.*
