  • This form is for those that are wishing to audition for a Staff Singer position with Holy Comforter.  Staff Singer positions are paid positions.  You would be an employee of the church and is treated as any other job.

    Information regarding expectations of this position:

    1. You DO NOT need to be an Episcopalian
    2. You DO NOT need to join the church or become a member
    3. You DO need to be high school age or older.
    4. You DO need to sing well and have good music talent.
    5. You DO need to be on time and prepared for rehearsals.
    6. You DO need to carry yourself in a professional manner.
    7. You DO need to be the vocal leader of your section.
    8. You DO need to be at Sunday services and special events as necessary.
    9. You DO need to be willing to do solos as needed or requested.

    Information regarding music and performances:

    • The choir sings traditional hymns, chants the psalms, and prepares classical choral music.
    • We do not do praise and worship music.
    • Music is accompanied by either piano or organ.
    • Some music will be a cappella.
    • Periodically throughout the year we perform Evensongs - this is a traditional Anglican service set entirely to music performed by the choir. (essentially a choir concert/service)
    • Staff Singers are paid for each rehearsal and service/performance. 
    • Staff Singers are paid additionally for any solos or small ensemble performances.

    Rehearsal and Service Information:

    • Rehearsals are on Wednesday evenings from 7-9pm.
    • Sunday Services are at 10:30am with a call time of 9:45am.
    • Evensong Services are held on Sundays at 5:00pm 3-4 times a year.
    • Special Services that do not necessarily fall on a Sunday include Christmas Eve and Holy Week services.

    Payment:

    • Each rehearsal and service pays $25 ($50 per week)
    • Solo or small ensemble work is an additional $20 per performance
    • *These are current offerings and may increase in the future.
    • Checks are paid out every 2 weeks.

  • Audition Information

    The Audition will consist of multiple parts to be completed.

    1. Provided prepared lyrical solo piece.
    2. Provided prepared technical solo piece.
    3. Simple hymn sightreading.
    4. Vocal range exercise.

    By submitting the form below, you will receive an email with a link to your audition materials, including accompaniment track or sample track to practice with. In the email will be a link to signup for an audition time. Currently, auditions will be held on Saturday July 26th.
