Invasive Plant Removal Training in Ashburn
WHAT:
Tree of Heaven is the plant host of choice for the equally invasive Spotted Lanternfly (SLF). The SLF lives longer and reproduces more on ToH, plus, the birds don't like the taste of the ToH sap. Get rid of the ToH, mitigate your SLF issue. Learn how to identify and treat the Tree of Heaven at this event, led by professionals in the field as well as trained volunteers. Plus, you can come on out and socialize with your fellow residents, get some exercise, learn a lot, and make a difference in Loudoun County!
WHEN:
Sunday, July 20: 9AM - 11AM, Ashburn Village HOA
During the event, participants will learn how to identify and remove Tree of Heaven (as well as any other invasives, like Bush Honeysuckle, that we have time to address).
**This event is not suitable for children under the age of 18 because we will be using herbicides.
WHERE:
The event is in Ashburn Village. Specifics on the location will be emailed a few days ahead of the event.
WHAT TO BRING:
Hand pruners, loppers, pruning saws if you have them. Not required.
If you plan to participate, you must wear a hat, safety glasses, long sleeves, long pants, closed-toe shoes, and gloves (gloves and glasses provided, if you forget or don't have them).
Dress for the weather.
NOTE: Participants will be working with herbicides. Personal protective equipment (safety glasses and nitrile gloves) will be provided.
If you have any issues/questions registering below, please contact Tracy Whittington at nabertj@gmail.com (email).
