Join us at the first ever Open Mic at the National Music Museum! We are so excited to give the community a chance to express themselves through music and art in the Janet Lucille Wanzek Performance Hall.
We welcome all forms of performance art, whether it be music performance, a comedy routine, or poetry reading. To ensure everyone has an enjoyable experience, we do ask that you abide by the following rules.
1. Keep your performances within the allowed duration (10 minutes or less).
2. Keep your performances family-friendly, as this will be an event open to all ages.
3. Please be respectful of other performers, even if you disagree with their message. We are not restricting political or social justice messaging, as we want to give everyone the opportunity to express their voice through music!
4. The NMM will provide a microphone and allow the use of the piano onstage (a 1901 Mason and Hamlin CC Grand Piano). Any other setup will need to be done by performers. Let us know if you may need additional time for setup.
4. If you use the Mason and Hamlin grand piano onstage, please keep in mind that it is over 100 years old and is an important part of our collection. Do not do anything that would damage it or treat it roughly.
5. Understand that your start time is approximate and may vary by a few minutes, depending on the time it takes to transition between performers. We would also love if you stay and support your fellow performers as well!
