• Ponies may be of any height up to and including 148cm and can be ridden in the category of your choice. (ie) Cat A, B or C. (Please note height certificates will be required for Foxton)
• Riders aged 17 years or older, who wish to ride a pony, must ride Cat C. Riders over 21 must ride in hack classes.
• Mounts can only be ridden by 1 rider, & ponies can only be ridden in one category.
• You may enter more than 1 horse/pony, but if necessary the DC and Executive Committee will decide which horse/pony will be of most benefit to the team.
• Show hunter NZ Rules apply to all classes.
• It is up to the individual to ensure they conform to Show hunter NZ rules in regard to saddlery & equipment. There is no gear inspection. Gear that is not allowed will result in a ‘NO SCORE”.
• Uniform:
Taupo & District Pony Club Members trialing for selection must wear full pony club uniform – new style tops: beige jodhpurs, pony club badge, pony club shirt & boots. Old style tops - as above plus white blouse and black tie
• Mounts to be show hunter turned out – plaited, well groomed, correct gear.
• Team Selection is open to financial Taupo & District Pony Club Members only.
• Riders trialing for selection need to be available to compete at Manawatu Pony Club Showhunter, Foxton - 26th - 28th September.
• Riders and mounts must be available to travel down on the Thursday (25/09/25) as the practice rounds start on the Friday (26/09/25).
• Riders that are selected for the show hunter team must adhere to the rally rule applicable to rider/mount certificate level prior to the Championship start on 4 October.
• Taupo and District Pony Club members not available for selection please ensure this is marked clearly on the form.
• If a rider is not entering selection, they can ride in any category despite their age or mount (so can ride a hack in Cat A, or be 17 and ride in Cat B, etc).
• Ribbons will be awarded to 4th place in each class regardless of whether the riders are going for selection or not.
• Overall awards will be awarded to Champion and Reserve Champion in each category, but only to those entered for selection. Champion/reserve only given out if more than 3 in class.
• NZPCA safety approved helmets must be worn with official yellow safety tag attached.
• Course is NOT to be walked.
• Riders must indicate when entering selection days if they are not available for Team Selection. If a team member or reserve withdraws for no valid reason, he/she may forfeit further selection from Taupo and District Teams for up to one year, to be at Executive Committee’s discretion.
