The Community Wide Closet Sale for Palestine aims to maximize the power of micro-fundraising in support of Palestinians enduring unfathomable conditions due to Israel's occupation and ongoing genocide. All are invited to help raise funds by selling their belongings using their chosen platforms, in whatever pace that suits their capacity.
This project started in June 2025 with a community of 22 sellers raising funds for four Palestinian families. The fundraiser is designed to continue indefinitely, and there is no limit to how many sellers can join. This means the same families will receive longterm support as long as participants are actively selling.
We are encouraging folks to branch out and start their own closet sale fundraisers in order to diversify the range of families and Palestinian-led mutual aid groups who receive ongoing support.
The dream is to let this be a template that can be easily adopted anywhere and everywhere, with built-in marketing and admin support!
Steps to start your own closet sale community:
- Sign on as an organizer using this form.
- Give your group a name.
- Connect with families in Gaza (visit Funds4Gaza's database, or @closetsale4palestine can get you connected).
- Tell us who will be the beneficiaries of your fundraiser.
- We will include your fundraiser in the main sign up form where participants can choose a community to raise funds for.
- Decide who will manage funds (i.e., receive Venmo's from participants; make donations to the families/orgs).
- Track dollars raised in the provided spreadsheet and save donation receipts.
You don't need to have a group already started before signing on as an organizer. Be assured, you will receive support with administrative logistics!
