Sunset Bay OCC welcomes paddlers of all levels, whether you’re here to compete or just enjoy the social and fitness side of outrigger canoeing. For everyone’s safety, all members are required to complete a Huli (capsize) drill. This ensures you know what to do if a canoe flips and that you can return to the boat safely. Your safety, and the safety of your crew, always comes first.

Sunset Bay Outrigger Canoe Club offers limited OC1/OC2 storage at our club shed.

Storage is available by request and subject to:
✅ Committee approval
✅ Proof of current insurance
✅ Agreement to club safety procedures

⚠️ Storage is at your own risk. Sunset Bay OCC accepts no responsibility for loss, theft, or damage to privately stored craft.

All paddlers must:
✅ Wear a leg rope and personal flotation device (PFD)
✅ Carry a mobile phone in a waterproof case or an EPIRB/PLB
✅ Carry a spare paddle
✅ Inform someone of your intended route and expected return time
✅ Store your canoe safely, securely, and respectfully

✅ Logging my paddle using the SafeTrx app whenever possible

⚠️ I understand these safety practices are required for storage approval and are for my own protection on the water.

📍Safety Tracking with SafeTrx:
Our club uses SafeTrx to log session locations and support on-water safety.
We strongly recommend that all OC1/OC2 paddlers download and use the SafeTrx app before heading out solo.
