RULES:
🪚 Nevern Show – Fencing Competition Rules 2025
Date: Wednesday, 13th August 2025
Location: Nevern Showground
Class: Agricultural Fencing – Team Competition
Prize: £300 cash prize for the winning team
🛠 Objective
Each team is to erect 30 metres of stock-proof agricultural fencing within the allotted time, to a high standard of workmanship, accuracy, and safety — using only hand tools.
👷♂ Team Format
3 competitors per team
All team members must be 16+
Competitors must bring their own tools (see tool list)
⏱ Time Limit
Each team has 2 hours to complete the fence
Time penalties will apply for overruns
🔧 Fence Specification
Each team will be required to construct the following:
One box strainer assembly at one end
30 metres of stock fencing in a straight line
Stock Wire & Twin Barb
Intermediate posts to be evenly spaced (not exceeding 3 m gaps)
Wire tensioning to be completed by hand using strainers
Staples to be driven correctly – not overdriven or loose
❌ Power Tool Policy
No power tools permitted except Petrol Auger and Chainsaw
Only traditional hand tools may be used. Use of power tools will result in immediate disqualification.

🏁 Judging Criteria
Each team will be assessed on:
Category Max Points
Quality of strainers 20
Post spacing & alignment 15
Wire tension & neatness 20
Safety & tool use 15
Overall finish 20
Time management 10
Total 100
Penalties:
Late finish: -1 point per minute
Unsafe working: disqualification or deduction
Failing to complete: zero points
