About the Exhibition
To coincide with the National First Nations Weaving Symposium, presented by Ku Arts and JamFactory, Ku Arts is excited to present the National Weaving Salon (working title). This exhibition will celebrate the diversity of contemporary weaving by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists from across Australia.
Ku Arts is currently seeking Expressions of Interest (EOIs) from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists interested in exhibiting their work.
Eligibility
- Applicants must be Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander artists aged 18 years or older.
- Artworks must incorporate weaving techniques.
- It is preferable that artworks are available for sale.
Artwork Selection
Artworks will be selected by a panel including representatives from Ku Arts, National Weaving Symposium staff, and the exhibition curators.
The selection panel will prioritise:
- Diversity of weaving practices and regional representation from across Australia
- Consideration of available exhibition space and production budgets

Selected Artists Notified: Friday 1st August 2025
Artwork Delivery Deadline: Friday 22 August 2025

- Artists are responsible for freight costs to Adelaide.
- Return freight will be covered by Ku Arts.
- If freight costs present a barrier to participation, please contact Ku Arts—limited freight subsidies may be available.
Insurance
Artists are responsible for insuring artworks during transit to Ku Arts.
Ku Arts will provide insurance for artworks during the exhibition and return transit of artworks.
General Conditions
- Work submitted must be the original work of the artist.
- Works should be sent in good, clean, displayable and undamaged condition.
- Ku Arts reserves the right not to exhibit works if they are not presented in exhibition quality.
Copyright/Reproduction:
The Artist/Copyright holders authorise Ku Arts to release and reproduce images, details of selected artworks, artist statements or stories for promotional purposes.
Sales & Commission

Artworks will be available for purchase via a QR code displayed in the gallery, linking directly to the Ku Arts website, which will be live for the duration of the exhibition. Artists are encouraged to promote sales through their personal and professional networks.

TAFE SA, Light Square Gallery will take a 10% commission on all sales.

Ku Arts processes payments through the Stripe platform, which incurs a processing fee of 1.7% + $0.30 per transaction. Artists must include this fee in their RRP (Recommended Retail Price). Ku Arts will deduct the fee from the final sales total to cover administration costs.
