
TALENT MANAGEMENT & EMPLOYEE RELATIONS OFFICER
Job Title: Talent Management & Employee Relations Officer
Department: Human Resources

Reports To: HR Manager / General Manager
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Talent Management & Employee Relations Officer will play a critical role in driving Kapico South Africa’s people strategy by leading initiatives in talent acquisition, skills development, performance management, and employee engagement. This role supports the business by building strong relationships with internal stakeholders and ensuring that HR practices contribute to a productive, skilled, and motivated workforce.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning
- Partner with hiring managers to define role requirements and develop job descriptions
- Manage end-to-end recruitment processes including sourcing, screening, interviewing, and onboarding
- Drive employer branding initiatives to attract top talent
- Maintain an effective pipeline of candidates for critical roles
- Support strategic workforce planning initiatives
Skills Development & Training
- Identify skills gaps through regular assessments and align training needs with business goals
- Coordinate internal and external training programs and learnerships
- Manage SETA-related documentation and grant applications
- Develop annual workplace skills plans (WSP) and annual training reports (ATR)
- Monitor training effectiveness and ROI
Performance Management
- Facilitate the performance review cycle, including setting KPIs and managing mid-year and annual reviews
- Coach managers on performance development and improvement plans
- Support succession planning and career pathing initiatives
- Ensure alignment between individual performance and business objectives
Employee Relations & Engagement
- Foster a positive and supportive work environment through open communication and employee engagement initiatives
- Serve as the first point of contact for employee-related queries and concerns
- Promote a culture of recognition, inclusion, and collaboration
- Conduct stay interviews, onboarding feedback sessions, and exit interviews to improve retention
- Support wellness and morale-boosting programs
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Industrial Psychology, or related field
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a generalist HR role, preferably in a fast-paced or multi-site environment
- Experience with performance management systems, recruitment platforms, and learning & development programs
- Strong knowledge of South African HR practices, labour law awareness beneficial (not IR-focused)
- Experience with SETA processes and reporting highly advantageous
