Wild Winter in Algonquin Park Photography Workshop - March 2026
  • Wild Winter in Algonquin Park Photography Workshop

Fill out the form carefully for registration
  •  Saturday, March 28th from sunrise to aprox. 4pm in Algonquin Provincial Park.

Algonquin Park is one of my absolute favourite places to go. I took my first trip there as a 16 year old with my photography class for a 4 day interior camping/photography trip and have been hooked every since. I have done 3 interior trips, but have spent many weekends and day trips up there over the years with my family or mostly for photography. I am excited to take you to all of my favourite places within the park to give us the best chance at seeing wildlife and to see the parks beauty in the winter.

This will be run as a self driving tour with multiple stops throughout the day with a variety of photographic opportunities, from landscape to nature photography, bird photography and hopefully we see some wildlife, however is never guaranteed! We will also plan to do 1-2 short and easy walks depending on how time is, etc. Aprox 2 km for each walk.

The workshop is best suited to those who have a fairly good concept of their camera and settings and for those who don't know the park well and are looking for direction on places to go and visit, etc. There are options for private lessons PRIOR to the workshop as well.

Because one of our main focuses for the day is looking for birds and wildlife, it is recommended to have a decent telephoto (zoom) lens. Ideally in the range of 300mm to 600m. As well as a wider angled lens for landscape or just a nice walk around lens etc. I would also recommend having your tripod in your car incase we need it.

I will provide education at each of our locations as well as a few tips and tricks in the field.  I am there to answer questions and help and ensure you walk away with images you are happy with.

Full itinerary will be sent out closer to the date so I can double check on conditions, etc of the park. But it will be a fairly FULL day of stuff to stop and see. There will be some waiting involved, especially when it comes to wildlife so please be sure to DRESS ACCORDINGLY! I suspect it will be a bit milder that time of year but things could always change. The trip will run regardless of weather, with the exception of rain or heavy snow storm, etc. It is recommended to stay near the park the night before.

You will be required to purchase a day pass for your vehicle which is $21.

**Please DRESS warm with extra clothing and items in your vehicle. Please bring a packed lunch, drinks and always recommend a thermos of something warm for later in the day.
