  • Sliding Scale Payment

If adjusted payment is not needed, you may select Option A below and skip reading this page. This model is laid out by The Dog Behavior Institute. My Sidekick Training offers sliding scale payment to those who rescued their dog.
  • Eligibility Requirements

Sliding scale payment is available only to those who have rescued/adopted their dog. This includes those who:

    • Adopted from a shelter or rescue group.
    • Rescued as their dog a stray, and adopted after looking for an owner and completing legal stray hold.
    • Adopted a puppy at no or very low cost from an accidental litter, whose parents were both spayed and neutered after the pregnancy.
    • Adopted an adult dog from an individual who could no longer care for them, and have had the dog spayed/neutered.
    • Purchased a dog from a breeder after being unfairly denied from adopting a dog from a shelter or rescue group.

    Exclusions

Sliding scale payment is NOT available for those who purchased their dog. This includes those who:

    • Purchased from an individual, pet store, or breeder.
    • Purchased a puppy from an accidental litter, whose parents have not since been spayed and neutered, or if the status of the parents is unknown.
    • Received a puppy as a gift, and the puppy’s parents have not since been spayed and neutered, or their status is unknown.

However, Work Trade (Option D) is still available if you did not rescue your dog.

    How it works

Please note that sliding scale programming is not a simple “discount.” If you are able to pay for full-price services, please do - this is how we can ensure that our sliding scale options are available for those who need them. Please be mindful that if you purchase training at the lowest end of the scale when you can truthfully afford the higher ticket prices, you are limiting access to those who truly need the gift of financial flexibility. Being honest with yourself and your financial situation when engaging with sliding scale practices grows strong and sustainable communities. Additionally, when the trainer is paid fairly, we are able to invest more time and resources to lower cost offerings. Here are general guidelines about how I currently price my sliding scale and to help you determine where you fall on it. Please select from the following options (A, B, C, D)

  • Training Agreement

Please carefully read the following before signing.
  • 1. Client Acknowledgment: I certify that I have fully and truthfully disclosed all known behavioral issues and health conditions of my Dog. I understand that failure to disclose such issues may endanger the Trainer, other people, or animals, and may result in termination of training without refund.

    2. Client’s Duty to Reinforce Training: I (Client) understand and agree that I am being trained to train my dog(s), and that without full cooperation with the Trainer, my Dog(s)'s behavior will not change. I understand that all training is contingent upon my willingness to handle and work with my Dog as explained the Trainer. I, the Client, and all members of my household, agree to follow Trainer's instructions without modification, and work with my dog(s) at least 10 minutes total per week, reinforcing training consistently throughout the Dog's Life. I understand that the Trainer of My Sidekick Dog Training, LLC cannot make any guarantee regarding the outcome of any training/counseling program. I assume full responsibility for the dog’s behavior during and after the training/counseling program.

    3. Client's Duty to Maintain Safety and Management: I (Client) agree to take all possible safety measures recommended by my trainer, including but not limited to: muzzling and leashing my dog(s) when off my property, securing the fence of my yard, and securing doors and windows of my home. I agree to not let my dog off-leash outside when not in a securely fenced area. I will be responsible for acquiring all necessary safety equipment that the trainer recommends.

    4. Representations About the Dog: I (Client) am affirming that: Client is the lawful owner of the Dog and has full authority to enter into this Agreement. Dog is properly licensed and carries current vaccinations, including rabies, DHLPPC, and bordetella. Dog’s current health status and all medications have been fully disclosed to the Trainer in writing. Client has disclosed in writing any history of aggression, biting, or behavioral issues, as well as any pending legal proceedings involving the Dog. Dog is not kept, trained, or used as a guard or protection animal. Dog is reasonably healthy, and any limitations have been communicated to Trainer in writing.

    5. Assumption of Risk and Client’s Liabilities: Client understands and accepts the risks inherent in animal training, including but not limited to: Animal bites, tripping, collisions, or fights. Slippery surfaces or equipment hazards. Actions of other dogs, clients, or guests. Client accepts all risks of illness, injury, loss, theft, pregnancy, or unwanted behaviors in the Dog, except for problems caused intentionally or recklessly by Trainer. Client is financially responsible for all property damage, bites, or injuries caused by the Dog during or after training, whether on or off Trainer’s premises. Client shall indemnify and defend Trainer, Trainer’s staff, and representatives from all claims, suits, attorney’s fees, and costs arising from Dog’s conduct. Visitors: Client is responsible for all persons brought to Trainer’s premises or training locations. Each visitor must sign a waiver; otherwise, Client shall indemnify Trainer for resulting claims.

    6. Client’s Liability for Injury or Death: I, Client, agree to assume full responsibility and liability for any injury or death caused to the Dog Trainer or any member of the Dog Trainer’s staff or assistants by the Client’s dog during the course of training or any related activities. This includes, but is not limited to, medical expenses, lost wages, and any other damages incurred as a result of such injury or death. Client expressly waives any defense based on the assumption of risk doctrine, which might otherwise limit or negate the Client's liability for injuries or death caused by the Client's dog. The Client acknowledges that this waiver is intended to ensure that the Dog Trainer and their staff are fully protected and compensated for any harm caused by the Client's dog, regardless of any inherent risks associated with dog training.

    7. Trainer’s Right to Terminate.  I agree that the Trainer may terminate this Agreement if, in Trainer’s sole judgment: Dog is dangerous, Client or Client’s visitors interfere with training, or Client breaches this Agreement. If termination occurs, Client will be refunded 80% of the compensation for any unfulfilled training sessions. All other provisions of this Agreement remain in effect.

    8. Boilerplate: By initialing below, I understand that This Agreement is binding upon Client, Client’s spouse, children, heirs, and assigns. This Agreement supersedes all prior oral or written agreements. No oral promises are enforceable unless included in writing in this Agreement. Amendments must be in writing and signed by both parties. Remedies under this Agreement are cumulative. If any provision is found invalid, the remainder of the Agreement remains enforceable.

     9. Observation and Note Taking: My trainer may record a transcription of our sessions for meeting summaries and record keeping. I authorize Ash of My Sidekick Training, LLC to record audio from our sessions. This will not be shared with anyone. The data is encrypted for security. I understand that any of my lessons may have 1-2 people shadowing my trainer, who there to learn from the trainer by quietly observing and taking notes.

    10. Financial Compensation: I understand that My Sidekick Dog Training, LLC does not offer any free consultation or training services. The full cost for a 2 hour consultation is $290. The full cost for the training program options are as follows: 1 Lesson - $140, 4 Lesson Program - $520, 6 Lesson Program - $750, 10 Lesson Program - $1,150, 16 Lesson Program - $1,760.
