  • Technology Acceptable Use Policy - Google Workspace for Education Agreement: Grades K - 4

Please review the following policies and provide your consent by signing below. This form covers Acceptable Technology Use, parental consent for Google Workspace for Education accounts, and legal compliance notices.
  • AUP are three letters that mean Acceptable Use Policy. This is a grown-up phrase. It means a list of rules that are acceptable that we follow when we use computers or iPads at school. The AUP has rules that all students have to follow when they use the internet and school technology. The “Acceptable Use Policy” tells you and your parents/guardians what is “acceptable.” It is a contract that your parents must sign for you to be allowed to use technology equipment.

Using the Internet and District equipment in school is a privilege not a right. The districts network, Internet, and equipment are NOT private. The Technology Department can “monitor” everything you do on the school equipment. This means someone can read what you write and see the web pages that you visit.

The district has consequences for students who use the equipment in an unacceptable manner. Just like when someone breaks classroom rules, there are consequences if you do not follow the rules in the AUP. You need to report to a teacher or another adult anything you see online that does not follow the rules listed in the AUP. If you do not follow the policy, you can lose your privileges to use the equipment and the Internet.

THINK – before you do anything online that you would not want your teachers or parents to see.

The AUP is to ensure the safety of our students and to support instructional goals. It outlines effective and appropriate use of all available technology. Students may have access to to resources (computers, iPads, network, and Internet) once the AUP has been signed by the parent / guardian.

By signing the Acceptable Use Policy, students and parents / guardians acknowledge the following rules and conditions:

    • As a Glencoe-Silver Lake Public School student, I understand that the use of the school network is a privilege, not a right. I understand that my school accounts are owned by the district and not private. The district has the right to access my information at any time.
    • I understand that school and district administrators will deem what conduct is inappropriate use if such conduct is not specified in this agreement. I will use technology in a manner that complies with the laws of the United States and the State of Minnesota.
    • I understand that I am to notify an adult immediately if I encounter material that violates appropriate use.
