  • ENTRY DEADLINE:

    Registration period: September 15 (12:01 am) – October 6 (11:59 pm), 2025. 

    Late Registration Period: October 7 (12:01am) – October 13 (11:59 pm), 2025 

    If there is space available, late registration will be accepted with an extra fee. If there is not, your late registration fee will be refunded.

    • The 34th Annual USOMC Competition may be restricted with limited participants in each event. If so, USOMC will give preference to the early entries.
    • Last date to change repertoire is on October 31, 2025,
    • Online Registration Form: Page 2 includes all piano categories; Page 3 includes all instrumental categories.

    ENTRY AGREEMENTS: 

    • Upon entering the annual United States Open Music Competition, contestants and their families agree to assign USOMC the right to use any photographs, video recordings or interviews of any USOMC event without compensation.
    • ALL ENTRY FEES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE. This rule has been established and is not negotiable.
    • USOMC reserves the right to combine and/ or cancel events for any reason. 


    ESTABLISHMENT of COMPETITION EVENTS:

    • USOMC may divide the events into smaller groups, as the committee sees fit. 
    • If an event has fewer than five entries, the USOMC committee will either cancel or combine with another event and will take into consideration the level differences between the pieces. 
  • *NEW FOR 2026*

  • 1. Contestants are required to bring their own accompanist for the competition and cover the accompanist’s fees for both rehearsals and the competition. However, if assistance is needed, you may email USOMC (info@usomc.org) to provide an official accompanist list. There is a set time limit for each age group, so please ensure that the tutti section is cut to fit within the allotted time. Judges have the right to stop the performance, if it exceeds the time limit.

    NOTE: Teachers and Parents may not accompany their own students. Violation of this rule will result in immediate disqualification. No refunds will be given.


    2. Prescreening Round for the Showcase Piano Solo Categories 

    Submit a maximum 10-minute recording featuring two contrasting pieces (from two different composers and genres) by November 15, 2025. The repertoire can be different from the ones you play in the live February 2026 competition. The prescreening jury, consisting of three members, will listen to the recordings and select a group of finalists across all age categories to perform in the February 2026 competition. You will be notified of the results by January 1, 2026.

    Important Notes:
    -If no recording is submitted, the contestant will be disqualified, and no refunds will be issued.
    *Exception: Contestants who have placed 1st or 2nd place in the past three years of the USOMC competition (2023-2025) in the Showcase Solo or Showcase Concerto Divisions (in any age group) will be automatically accepted into the February competition and there will be no need for a Prescreening recording. Please write this in the application form.*

    • Junior through Senior levels will have three minutes to look over their music (without a piano) before their turn to play

    • The older partner’s age will determine the age group
    • Contestants may count audibly while playing at the competition

  • CATEGORY 17: SHOWCASE SIGHT-READING DUET (SENIOR)

    • Ages 15 and above (for one contestant, the second contestant can be younger)

    • The composition must be during the competition
    • Each contestant may enter this event only once
    • All contestants must email a PDF of their finished composition to info@usomc.org by January 31st, 2026
    • This event will only be offered if there are sufficient entires
    • Contestants must bring at least 2 copies of their music for the judges during the composition

  • CATEGORY 18: SHOWCASE OWN PIANO COMPOSITION (SENIOR)

    • Ages 15 and above
    • Maximum time: 6 minutes
    • Contestants will perform an original piano composition of their own
    • Contestants will be judged based on their originality and musicality as a composer and performer
    • The composition must be during the competition
    • Each contestant may enter this event only once
    • All contestants must email a PDF of their finished composition to info@usomc.org by January 31st, 2026
    • This event will only be offered if there are sufficient entires
    • Contestants must bring at least 2 copies of their music for the judges during the composition

    • Ages 7 and under 
    • Contestants can choose any music under 3 minutes
    • Contestants must bring at least 2 copies of their music for the judges during the competition
    • All performances must be unaccompanied, and memorization is required

    FEES PER ENTRY: $45

  • CATEGORY 20: SHOWCASE INSTRUMENTAL SOLO (ELEMENTARY)

    • Maximum time: 5 minutes
    • Prize Winners’ Concert: 3 minutes
    • Contestants must select two original and contrasting pieces (with or without piano accompaniment) from different musical periods
      No simplified music allowed
    • Performance must be from memory
    • Contestants must be prepared to play their music entirely without personal cuts
    • Accompanists: If the contestants’ music calls for piano accompaniment, contestants are responsible to bring their accompanist and cover all fees
    • Teachers or Parents are not allowed to accompany their own students
    • Contestants must upload a PDF of their complete music scores (Or first 5 pages of each pieces) at registration
    • Contestants who have one first place in the past are not allowed to enter again using the same repertoire

  • CATEGORY 20: SHOWCASE INSTRUMENTAL SOLO (SENIOR)

    • Maximum time: 12 minutes
    • Prize Winners’ Concert: 6 minutes
    • Contestants must select two original and contrasting pieces (with or without piano accompaniment) from different musical periods
    • No simplified music allowed
    • Performance must be from memory
    • Contestants must be prepared to play their music entirely without personal cuts
    • Accompanists: If the contestants’ music calls for piano accompaniment, contestants are responsible to bring their accompanist and cover all fees

  • CATEGORY 21: SHOWCASE INSTRUMENTAL DUET (INTERMEDIATE)

    • Ages 14 and Under
    • Maximum time: 8 minutes
    • Instrumental Sonatas include two (2) performers (any combination of instruments), with or without a piano part
    • All contestants will be judged
    • If a piano part is required, the pianist is considered as 1 of the 2 performers
    • Contestants may choose one or more movements (within the time limit) by one composer from any standard repertoire, except Sonatas from the Baroque period which cannot be used for this category
    • Memorization is not requirement
    • Please review the Competition Rules #1, 2, 8, 9, and 10 on p.3-5
    • Contestants must upload a PDF of their complete music scores (Or first 5 pages of each pieces) at registration
    • Contestants must bring 2 copies of their music (One must be purchased, without proper music will result in disqualification)
    • USOMC may choose to combine this Category with Category 22 - Instrumental Ensemble, if there are not enough participants
