Yard of the Month Criteria
We look at the overall look and tidiness of the front yard. This includes neat and trimmed bushes and trees, well-defined lawn edges and flower beds, and a generally attractive appearance. We also consider any improvements made to the yard.
Lawn:
Grass should look healthy with few bare spots or weeds.
The lawn should be mowed and edges trimmed.
Grass around the house and fences should be neatly cut.
All debris (sticks, trash, leaves) should be cleaned up.
The yard should have a simple, balanced, and natural design.
Landscaping & Flower Beds:
Flower beds should be weed-free and edges clearly defined.
Dead plants or flowers should not be visible.
Trees and shrubs should be pruned and neat.
Natural areas should be cleaned up.
Adding new plants, flowers, or trees is encouraged, as long as they fit the yard’s size and look.
Walkways & Driveways:
Walkways and driveways should be clean.
The area near the curb should be free of trash and dirt.
Overall Appearance:
The yard should look welcoming and attractive from the street.
Creativity and originality are encouraged!
Holiday Season:
In October, November, and December, we will give a “Best Decorated Holiday Yard” award instead of Yard of the Month. This is based on seasonal and holiday decorations (like Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, or Hanukkah).
