Code Of Conduct
Purpose This Code of Conduct establishes clear expectations for behaviour, integrity, and responsibility across all individuals and organisations affiliated with the NSW Council for Pacific Communities.
It aims to promote a safe, inclusive, respectful, and culturally empowered environment for all.
GENERAL PRINCIPLES (Applicable to All)
• Act with honesty, transparency, and cultural sensitivity.
• Treat all individuals with dignity, respect, and empathy.
• Uphold confidentiality where required.
• Promote inclusivity, equity, and anti-discrimination.
• Serve the best interests of Pacific communities in NSW.
• Comply with all relevant laws, regulations, and council policies.
EMPLOYEES
• Maintain professional conduct during work hours and council-related activities.
• Engage respectfully with colleagues, stakeholders, and community members.
• Take accountability for job responsibilities and performance.
• Avoid conflicts of interest and disclose any potential risks.
• Participate in ongoing cultural competency and professional development.
BOARD MEMBERS
• Lead by example in governance, strategy, and community engagement.
• Make decisions that reflect the mission and values of the Council.
• Ensure transparency in reporting, funding, and compliance.
• Refrain from using board position for personal gain or influence.
• Support cultural awareness and community representation in decision-making.
• Provide visionary and ethical leadership that promotes the Council’s goals.
• Foster safe spaces for dialogue, collaboration, and mentoring.
• Address misconduct or breaches of this Code swiftly and effectively.
• Strengthen relationships across government, corporate, and community sectors.
• Represent Pacific communities with pride, authenticity, and care.
ALIGNED PARTNERS
• Collaborate in good faith and with shared respect for Pacific values.
• Honour commitments and uphold ethical standards in joint initiatives.
• Respect the voices, traditions, and leadership structures of Pacific communities.
• Use Council branding and affiliations responsibly and only with permission.
• Maintain transparency in roles, responsibilities, and shared outcomes.
VOLUNTEERS
Volunteers play a vital role in strengthening community connection and delivering servicesb with heart and integrity. This section outlines the standards of conduct expected from all volunteers who contribute to the Council’s work.
Volunteers are expected to:
• Demonstrate respect, kindness, and cultural sensitivity in every interaction.
• Uphold confidentiality, especially when working with community members or sensitive information.
• Follow instructions provided by Council staff and supervisors, maintaining safety and professionalism.
• Represent the Council with dignity—both in-person and online.
• Communicate openly and respectfully, seeking guidance when unsure.
• Be punctual, reliable, and proactive in fulfilling volunteer duties.
• Advocate for inclusivity and support equitable access to services.
• Avoid conflicts of interest and declare any potential risks to supervisors.
BREACHES AND RESOLUTION
Any breach of this Code may result in:
• Verbal or written warnings
• Disciplinary reviews or termination of employment/partnership
• Removal from board or senior member roles
• Suspension of collaborative projects or funding
All reports will be investigated respectfully and in line with Council protocols. NSW COUNCIL FOR PACIFIC COMMUNITIES CODE OF CONDUCT AGREEMENT, The NSWCPC executive committee reserve the right to make any decision surrounding breaches of the code of conduct, and also reserve the right to revoke membership status if deemed necessary.

I recognise the importance of upholding this Code in all interactions and responsibilities related to the Council and its affiliated communities.
