  • Thank you so much for volunteering to assist with the Grand Opening of Creative Flow Art Center! Kicking off Friday evening will be the opening reception of the 4 Points of Light artists gallery show, art activities, food, drinks, and more.

    Continuing on Saturday, community members will have the opportunity to participate in Raku Pottery Firings, community building art activities, art demonstrations, art giveaways, and more.

    Volunteering Details:

    This event takes place at Creative Flow Art Center located at 110 77th Way NE (East River Rd) Fridley, MN 55432.

    Friday, October 10th:

    3:30 pm - 5 pm: Set -Up. Please Note that set-up involves moving and lifting medium-heavy objects. We need assistance setting up tables, chairs, tents, art supplies, signage, amongst other things.

    5 pm - 8 pm: Event Assistance. We need three volunteers to help during the event. two volunteer will be 'floaters' who will help attendees and art center staff. This includes tasks such as answering questions, guiding folks through the space, getting materials, or helping out at various activities. We need one volunteer to monitor folks who are creating art inside.

    Saturday, October 11th:

    9:30 am - 11 am: Set-up. Please Note that set-up involves moving and lifting medium-heavy objects. We need assistance setting up tables, chairs, tents, art supplies, signage, amongst other things.

    11 am - 3 pm: Event Assistance. We need three volunteers to help during the event. Two volunteer will be 'floaters' who will help attendees and art center staff.     3 pm - 4:30 pm: Clean Up and Tear Down. Please Note that tear down may involve moving and lifting medium-heavy objects. 

  • Morning Volunteers: You will be assisting with set-up. Please Note that set-up involves moving and lifting medium-heavy objects. Rumriver Art Center needs assistance setting up tables, chairs, tents, art supplies, signage, filling 5 gallon buckets of water, amongst other things. When attendees starting arriving we will guide participants through the project, retrieve materials, and assist them as needed.

    Afternoon Volunteers: RRAC staff and volunteers will guide participants through the project, retrieve materials, and assist them as needed. We will begin teardown at 5:30, you are free to leave then. You may also stay until 6 pm to assist but please note teardown involves moving and lifting medium-heavy objects.

    Project: Community Quilt 
    Description: Participants will take a 5” x 5” square of canvas and paint their design inspired by nature, community, and city of Ramsey. After they complete their artwork we take it and place it on a standing metal grate with a clothes pin to dry. At the end of the day these squares will be taken back to RRAC to be sewn together. After the piece is assembled it will be on display in the City of Ramsey (location TBD).


    Timeline:

    • 11:15 am - RRAC Staff Arrive
    • 11:30 am - Volunteers Arrive
    • 12 pm - Booth opens/ parade ends
    • 2:30 pm - Volunteer Shift Change
    • 5:30 pm - Start takedown. Volunteers can leave or choose to stay until 6 pm
    • 6 pm - Leave Event


    Event Logistics Notes:

    • RRAC will be set up in the corner of the venue by the intersection of Center St. and 145th Ave.
    • Late morning volunteers should expect a bit of traffic as the parade starts at 10 am. We are able to get into the event grounds during the parade.
    • Enter by driving down Bunker Blvd. and turning onto Center Street.
    • Street Parking is available along E Ramsey Parkway.
  • IMPORTANT: The October 17th Kids Art Fun Night Class is taking place off-site at the Anoka Lions Halloween Tent. The tent is located on the corner of 2nd Avenue and Jackson St, by the Anoka City Hall.
