  • Sacramental Preparation

Sacramental Preparation follow the "Restored Order" according to the Archdiocese of Denver.  This means that children recieve their sacraments in 2nd and 3rd grade in the Archdiocese of Denver.

If your youth has not yet recieved sacraments of baptism, first communion, or confirmation, they will prepare and recieve these sacraments at either the Easter Vigil (for un-baptized), or a special Sacrament Mass at the end of April (Confirmation and First Communion). They will be part of a special process called OCIT- the Order of Christian Initiation for Teens.

In addition to regular Rise Middle School Ministry or Ignite High School Ministry attendance, there will be approximately twice a month required additional Sacramental prep meetings on Monday evenings throughout the school year. Also, we will have a retreat day for the youth before the Sacraments are received. More information to come!

Attendance for Youth in Sacramental Preparation: There is a three-absence policy. This policy includes the regular Rise Middle School Ministry or Ignite High School Ministry evening classes, and the addtitional  Monday night sacramental prep classes.  In addition, the retreat held in the spring is mandatory.  Students who miss more than 3 classes may delay the reception of sacraments to ensure proper faith formation.

Required Parent Meeting: There is a mandatory parent meeting on September 8, 2025 at 6:30 pm. Is at least one parent able to attend this meeting? (This meeting is for parents only. Please do not bring your student with you).

Fee: The sacramental preparation program has a $50 fee. This includes a Bible, Catechism, and supplies.

  • Catechist & Mentor Opportunities

  • Youth Ministry Mentors and Catechists

We need several adult mentors and catechists to serve in the Youth Ministry programs.  These Catechists work in teams to spread out the lesson planning and give our students a dynamic experience. Parents are always welcome, and we especially invite young adults, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and those without children in the program to consider serving.  No experience needed—just a love for Christ and a willingness to help.

If you or someone you know is interested in serving and sharing their faith in this way, please let us know!

  • Youth Ministry Expectations and Fees

  • Youth Ministry Parent/Guardian Responsibilities In addition to being the primary educators in the faith, parents by their registration in the Youth Ministry programs at Spirit of Chrsit agree to support the process in the following ways:

Domestic Church: It is important to recognize that the Rise Middle School Ministry and Ignite High School Ministry mentors and catechists assist the domestic church (your household) in training the children in the faith; they cannot replace you, nor is the Youth Ministry Program sufficient to fully pass on the faith to the children.  Please walk with your child every step of the way and be sure to share the beauty of the faith with them on a daily basis.

    FEES

The Youth Ministry Programs at Spirit of Christ are free. Please ensure your regular offering reflects your support and gratitude for the parish programs that serve and form our young people in faith.  There are fees for special events, retreats and activites that your student chooses to participate in.

The sacramental preparation program has a $50 fee.  This includes a Bible, Catechism, and supplies.
