  • Field trips are not mandatory. They are designed to enhance curriculum, to encourage student participation in extracurricular activities, and to serve as community service projects.

    MAST Academy teachers will periodically take their classes on walking field trips to marine related facilities/sites in the vicinity of the school. Your signature below indicates that you give permission for your child to participate in these school sponsored field trips at any time during the 2025-2026 school year. No further notification will be given. These trips will be carefully chaperoned at a ratio of 15:1 or less (ratio for water-related field trips 10:1 The sites and approximate distances from the school are listed below. Rickenbacker Causeway Beach (across from school) Virginia Key Beach (approximately 1/2 mile from school) Bear Cut Aquatic Preserve and Rocky Shore Line (approximately 3/4 mile from school) University of Miami Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science (RSMAS) (approximately 1/4 mile from school) Fish Hatchery (approximately 1/4 mile from school) Miami Seaquarium (approximately 1/4 mile from school) Crandon Marina (approximately 1/4 mile from school) NOAA/AOML Lab (approximately 1/4 mile from school) William Powell Bridge (approximately 1 mile from school) Virginia Key Sewer Treatment Plant (approximately 1 mile from school) Marine Stadium Lagoon Path (closed road behind school) Local Restaurants on Key Biscayne (within 2 miles from school) Rowing Club

  • SECTION III PARENT/GUARDIAN'S WRITTEN PERMISSION TO PARTICIPATE IN ACTIVITY

  • I HEREBY GIVE MY PERMISSION FOR MY CHILD TO PARTICIPATE IN THE FIELD TRIPS AS DESCRIBED ABOVE.

    My child understands that he/she is responsible for all class work missed even though this is an excused absence. I have completed the Emergency Contact Information in Section IV. (See other side)

  • Note: Parents are always welcome to chaperone. If you are interested in volunteering, you must register through the parent portal on M-DCPS website. If you have any questions, please call the Student Activities Office at (305) 365-6278 Ext. 2242, or the Principals Secretary at Ext. 2201. Every volunteer must complete a volunteer form and be cleared in order to chaperone any field trip and/or event. (Over)
