The case: Since spring 2025, a series of disturbing and deliberate acts of cruelty have taken place in Parikia. At least nine stray cats have been found with severe chemical burns—on their backs, heads, and bodies.

Veterinary examinations confirmed the injuries are consistent with corrosive or acidic substances. All incidents occurred in the area behind the Market-In parking lot on the Parikia ring road.

A police investigation is underway, and any information could help stop this ongoing abuse.
