PURPOSE
To provide disaster relief assistance to individuals and entities within the veterinary community in Texas who have experienced a natural disaster and are in need of basic necessities.
AWARD
Up to $2,000* may be awarded per grantee to help cover out-of-pocket expenses related to immediate, essential needs following a natural disaster.
*Requests exceeding $2,000 will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis and must demonstrate a clear and urgent need for additional support.
CRITERIA FOR ELIGIBILITY
To be eligible, individuals must work in the veterinary field in Texas at a veterinary practice where at least one TVMA member is employed and demonstrate a significant loss or disruption due to the disaster, along with an immediate need for basic necessities.
Relief may be provided to individuals in the veterinary field in Texas, including licensed veterinarians, licensed veterinary technicians or staff member at a veterinary practice.
A disaster includes but is not limited to flooding, earthquakes, tornadoes, hurricanes, or wildfires occurring in areas officially declared a disaster by the Governor of the State of Texas.
TYPES OF ASSISTANCE
Must have incurred emergency expenses for necessities as a result of the disaster and assistance may include:
- Temporary shelter or housing assistance
- Food, water, and other essentials
- Clothing and basic hygiene supplies
- Medication or medical supplies
- Emergency transportation
- Financial support for temporary shelter
APPLICATION PROCEDURE
Applicants can request up to $2,000 in grant funds. Checks will be payable to the person/entity named in your application.
Note that TVMF must be given permission to use the funded project for future
recruitment of funds and receive acknowledgement for funding.
DEADLINE
Applications must be received no later than nine (9) months following the disaster.
APPLICATION REVIEW
The TVMF Grants Committee will review all applications. The applicant must be reachable during the review process in the event of additional questions.
GRANT AWARDS
Notification of grant awards are made directly by the TVMF COO and/or appointed designee within five business days (Monday through Friday, excluding major holidays) of receiving the application.
