Chromebook User Agreement: Grades 5 - 12

Why Chromebook?

At Glencoe-Silver Lake Public Schools, we believe technology plays a crucial role in helping students learn, collaborate, and think critically. Our 1:1 Chromebook program gives students access to digital tools that make learning more engaging and personalized. This program ensures students have access to their own devices to use in the classroom. We are always working to expand and improve the 1:1 program by providing new resources and training for staff and students.

Student Responsibilities

1. I will follow all rules as stated in the Acceptable Use Policy and I understand that the Chromebook is the property of Glencoe-Silver Lake Public Schools.
2. I agree that any inappropriate use of the Chromebook will result in school discipline. Inappropriate use includes but is not limited to:
   1. Visiting inappropriate websites, possessing inappropriate pictures and / or media files, cheating, and / or attempting to circumvent the Chromebook management system and / or filtering systems.
3. Students will have access to a Chromebook, and charger.
4. Students should never leave their Chromebook unattended and keep it away from anything that might damage it.
5. Students must report any damage to or malfunction of the Chromebook immediately to their teacher or the Technology Department.
6. Students should not tell anyone their passcode nor allow any other person to use their Chromebook.
7. Students will not take a picture of another student or teacher without getting their permission first.
8. If my Chromebook is damaged through malicious actions on my part, I am responsible for the full repair or replacement cost.

In case of damage to the Chromebook, the fee structure below will be applied.

• First Instance of Damage:
  • $50.00 is Charged.
• Second Instance of Damage:
  • $75.00 is Charged.
• Third Instance of Damage
  • The fee will be based on the full repair cost of the device.

I have read and agree to follow Glencoe-Silver Lake Public Schools Chromebook Responsible Use Agreement and the classroom teacher’s rules, procedures, and expectations at all times while using the school Chromebook.
