    The Energize Project is proud to introduce its third year! Funded by the Louisiana Department of Education, this program provides 40 hours of free training to prepare 6-12th grade Louisiana public and charter school certified teachers for the Computer Science/CS (5652) Praxis test. The Energize Project is a collaboration between the Louisiana Department of Education and Southeastern Louisiana University's Department of Computer Science and College of Education.     We welcome you to the Energize course and trust you will find it helpful as you prepare to take the Praxis Computer Science test. The team is committed to ensuring the program meets the needs of its participants. Toward that goal, it is essential to collect data on how this project impacts teachers so we can improve its design and content. While we will share findings from this survey with the Louisiana Department of Education and possible publications, your name and email (identifying information) will not be connected to any results.   • Online Cohort  (Apply by 9/29/25)

    Dates: October 13 – December 12
    Format: Asynchronous, Self-paced, 8 Weeks 
    Capacity: 200 Participants
    Skill level: Best suited for intermediate to advanced educators and self-motivated beginners.

     

    Virtual Cohort (Apply by 1/5/26) 

    Dates: January 24 – May 17
    Format: Virtual, live weekly sessions
    Schedule: Saturdays, 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM
    Capacity: 40 participants
    Skill level: Our most beginner friendly option, suited for all skill levels.

     

    In Person Cohort (Apply by 5/15/26)

    Dates: June 1 – June 4, 2026
    Format: Face-to-face, intensive training at Southeastern Louisiana University (SELU)
    Schedule: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM
    Capacity: 20 participants
    Skill Level:  For experienced CS teachers. Eligibility may be based on experience level.

  • By submitting this form I agree to the following:

    • I am an in-service certified teacher of grades 6-12 at a Louisiana public or charter school.
    • I give permission for the Energize Project team to contact my principal/administration to verify my employment and eligibility to participate in the Energize Project.
    • I commit to attend and actively participate in the cohort's instructional sessions and surveys, if selected as an Energize Project participant.
    • I give the Energize Project team permission to contact me through the use of any of the methods detailed in this form.
