  • LIGHTNING TALK

Lightning Talks are five minute presentations by one person on a single topic. Slideshow presentations contain 20 slides, which will auto-advance every 15 seconds. Presenters are not able to control or stop the slideshow, adding a fun twist to this raucous—and sometimes interactive—presentation style!

Topics and tone can be provacative, funny, serious, or sentimental. The more niche the topic, the better. Examples of good topics might include:

    • A Brief History of Native Karaoke Haunts in Oklahoma City
    • Auntie's Guide to Winning Bingo, Every Time
    • What's an Absentee Ballot and Why Does it Matter?
    • Oklahoma Native Art History 101
    • Beyond Smoke Signals: Five Native Films You Need to Watch and Why

You may submit more than one topic idea for consideration. Please submit a separate form for each topic. Only one topic per person will be selected. All presentations are solo; no group presentations are allowed.

Applications close Sunday, Aug. 31. Those selected must submit their completed presentations (20 slides, PowerPoint or Google Docs only) by Sunday, Oct. 5 to learn@famok.org. Late submissions will not be accepted.

All presentations will take place between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 14 in the museum's Xchange Theater.

Speaker compensation will include a $50 gift card, a meal ticket, a free Indigenous Peoples Day t-shirt, and the enthusiastic support of your audience members.
