GENERAL INFORMATION:
Kids Art Alley is a special art fair for young people to sell their artwork within ART on the GRAND. The goal of providing this aspect of the fair is to provide local youth with the opportunity to have real-life experience in applying to an art fair with their own creations, having their work juried, and finally displaying and selling their work.
ART on the GRAND takes place the first weekend of June each year in downtown Farmington. Farmington is neighbored by the larger city of Farmington Hills; both cities partner to present this fine art show, now in its 17th year.
ARTIST INFO | JURY REQUIREMENTS:
The Kids Art Alley application is open to artists in 5th through 12th grades. To clarify, the youngest students must be completing their 5th Grade Year of school and the oldest of the students will be completing their Senior Year of high school.
All artwork must be handmade by the applying artist. No kits, molds, mass-produced or resale items are allowed. Selling food, beverages or bath/body products is NOT allowed. Prints of original work are allowed.
If you work in more than one medium, such as jewelry, photography and painting, then this information including photos should be submitted as part of your application for juror consideration.
Artists must have a minimum of ten (10) pieces to sell at the fair that look similar to what they've submitted in the application.
ONLINE APPLICATION & FEES: Artists must apply using this online application. The Application fee ($5) is non-refundable and will be required for application submission. If accepted into the fair, an additional exhibit fee ($15) will be required.
MAIL-IN APPLICATIONS: will not be accepted. DO NOT FILL OUT THIS FORM AND MAIL IT IN. THIS FORM IS FOR ONLINE APPLICATIONS ONLY.
JURYING PROCESS: All artists' work will be juried. Application will not guarantee entry. Our jury wants to see current work that will be featured at the fair. A minimum of one (1) photo /image upload is required with application; if you have two kinds of artwork, upload two (2) photos. Artists will be notified of acceptance via email no later than April 30, 2026. Detailed instructions, maps, etc., will be provided to artists in May. Festival officials have the right to exclude any work that is deemed unsuitable.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION, RULES/REGULATIONS: Kids Art Alley will have tables set up underneath 10' x 10' tents where the art will be displayed and sold. All artwork, inventory, boxes, etc. must be contained within the allotted space.
Participants will share a standard folding table (96"x30") with another artist and can have display stands in front or behind them to exhibit their work. Friends and siblings can request to be near each other. Participants and parents will help in the set-up and tear down of tables and tents.
Exhibitors are required to set up and take down their art, and are encouraged to be at the art fair to sell their work as much as possible throughout the weekend. All artists and parents are expected to be community-minded and help eachother.
Parents will not be allowed to represent their child or sell their work without the artist present. Parents can help with the set-up and tear down of tables and tents.
No electricity is available, therefore if an artist would like to include lighting,
battery-powered lighting is recommended and would be the artist’s responsibility to furnish.
MANDATORY MEETING: If accepted into the show, participants will be required to attend an online orientation/workshop in May on effective display and how to run a booth. The meeting will also discuss standards, expectations, pricing and safety information.
COMMISSION & TAXES: No commission charged. Artist is responsible for MI 6% Sales Tax. A concessionaire's tax form is available at www.michigan.gov for parents to fill out after the event.
SECURITY/SAFETY: The City of Farmington Police Department will patrol the grounds during the day and overnight. Additional contracted security will also be on the grounds overnight.
The City of Farmington Hills, the Farmington Downtown Development Authority, or the City of Farmington or their sponsors shall not be held responsible for any injuries, loss or damage to artwork or personal property of any kind and will not assume responsibility for unattended children.
