  • 2025 - 2026 Registration to Prepare for Reconciliation, Confirmation, or Holy Communion

For children and teens who have already been baptized
  • "Here is the true transformation I hope to achieve: family catechesis is not only a renewed approach to preparing our children to receive Baptism, Reconciliation, Confirmation and Eucharist, but is also a shift in focus toward lifelong faith formation with adults. After receiving these wonderful sacraments around the age of discretion, children will continue receiving faith formation with their families, growing in their prayer lives, developing virtuous hearts, and learning more about the great truths of our faith. In all of this, parents will be challenged and empowered to be the primary catechists, with the support of our parishes, in handing on our Catholic faith to another generation."

    - Bishop Wack in his Pastoral Letter Reborn, Anointed, Nourished: Faith and Formation for Life

    Expectations of Sacramental Preparation

Sacramental catechesis is focused and specific to the sacrament being prepared for. It presupposes that a participating youth is receiving a comprehensive education in the Catholic Faith through Catholic school, parish Faith Formation, or a qualified homeschool curriculum. If not, it may be necessary to participate in Sunday Faith Formation before or concurrently with sacramental preparation.

Preparation for the sacraments is incomplete without weekly Sunday worship at Holy Mass.

The parent is responsible for obtaining the following documents and submitting them to the St. Paul parish office:

    1. Written permission from your pastor if you live within the boundaries of a different Catholic Church and are seeking sacramental initiation at St. Paul.
    2. The child's recently issued sacrament/baptismal record. A family's own copy does not suffice for this purpose.
    3. For Confirmation Sponsors: Letter from the sponsor's pastor affirming that he or she meets the requirements of the Church to serve as a godparent or confirmation sponsor.

(Questions? There will be an opportunity to discuss these steps during the orientation session)

I have read and understand the expectations of sacramental preparation at St. Paul Catholic Church.
