This is a focused, commonsense measure that reflects the findings of the working group convened by Governor Newsom last year and responds to the urgent need for transparency around high-risk AI development.

SB 53 passed the California State Senate unanimously in May and its core provisions align with overwhelming public support for stronger AI oversight.
