CARIFESTA’s calling Caribbean Photo Enthusiasts:
Celebrate our Caribbean culture and heritage and win US $500!
Submit your striking images of this special region for display during CARIFESTA XV in Barbados, August 22nd to 31st.
There are five themes under which you may submit your images as follows:
Caribbean Life and Landscape - This theme celebrates the unique physical characteristics of regional territories as well as the people and activities of our daily lives.
Food Security - Images that demonstrate that the region is actively engaged in food-crop farming and in the production of goods and services for a sustainable food supply.
Health & Wellness - Images that portray behaviour and activities that are conducive to our good health and well-being.
Our Natural Environment - An exploration of the features that play a role in sustaining our ecosystems and contribute to the health of our environment.
Celebrating Healthy Caribbean Brands - Images of commodities, produced in the Caribbean, that are conducive to good health.
A selection panel will choose one image in each category that best represents the theme. Each theme winner will receive a cash award of US $500. There will also be special mention awards in each category where the name of the photographer will be highlighted.
Selection Criteria
While technical quality will be considered, final selection will be based on content - images that best reflect the theme under which they are submitted.
Submissions close Monday, August 11th.
Winners will be announced on Wednesday, August 20th.
Terms & Conditions of Participation
Both colour & black & white images are eligible for display, with a minimum resolution of 1920 x 1080p each.
The maximum number of images that may be uploaded is 5 per person.
The theme under which the images are submitted should be indicated upon uploading, on the provided form. Images must be the work of the person whose name accompanies the images.
Submitted images will be vetted by a review panel to determine suitability for assessment and display.
The CARIFESTA Secretariat and the Barbados National Cultural Foundation reserve to right to determine the suitability of any image for display.
Submitted images may be new or previously displayed.
Submissions should be uploaded to the following site no later than Monday, August 11th.
Images will be displayed electronically at various locations in Barbados during CARIFESTA XV, August 22nd to 31st.
The name of the photographer will be displayed with their images
Images submitted are automatically licensed to The CARIFESTA Secretariat and the Barbados National Cultural Foundation, granting these agencies license to display and/or reproduce any of the images for the purpose of promoting the festival, or for post festival review, for a period of 1 year after the end of the festival on August 31st.
