  • Red River Quilters 2026 Quilt Show Entry Guidelines

    • One form will be filled out per one item entered
    • Quilt Show dates are Friday, September 18 & Saturday, September 19
    • Entrants are encouraged to volunteer 2 hours of their time during the Quilt Show.
    • Items can be unfinished to be entered but item must be finished and with a 4" quilt sleeve & label to be considered for the show.
    • Registration ends July 22, 2026. No late entries will be allowed.
    • The Quilt Show committee may move an entry to a more appropriate category if needed.
    • Items must be received at Lousiana Sate Fair Grounds at the Ag Building by Noon on Tuesday, September 15, 2026. No late entries allowed.

  • Format: (000) 000-0000.
  • Red River Quilters 2026 Quilt Show Categories. The Quilt Show Committee may move an entry to a more appropriate category if necessary.

    • Challenge - Item meets the requirements of this year’s challenge. (2026 Challenge is Star Spangled Stitches.)

    • Youth Quilt - Those made by youths 10 – 17 years of age as of January 1st of the current year.  

    • First Quilt - Defined as the entrant’s first quilt EVER made, not the first entered in this quilt show.  

    • Garment and Accessories - A wearable or accessory that includes piecing, appliqué or quilting.   

    • Whole Cloth - Top contains no joining seams (except to join lengths of same fabric), Quilting is on one fabric.  Whole cloth quilts showcase quilting rather than fabric or color.  

    • Kit and Block of the Month Quilts – Both include pattern and fabric. Only workmanship will be judged.  

    • Art Quilt – Non-traditional, original exploration of a concept or idea, using textile manipulation, color, texture and/or mixed media, and consisting predominately of fiber with multiple layers held together with stitches or piercing of the layers.  

    • Workshop Product – Any quilt which was begun in and is a direct result of participation in a specific quilting workshop, INCLUDING those taught by other guilds or at quilt shows; excludes tributary projects unless specific workshop is involved.

    • Other—Quilts such as crazy quilts, cathedral window quilts—any quilt that does not fit elsewhere. 

    • By Size – Items will be grouped into 3 or more categories as determined by the total number of quilts entered. The “By Size” category is only used if the entry does not fit into any of the previously defined categories. 

  • Red River Quilters 2026 Quilting Technique. 

    • Pieced - Two or more pieces of fabric stitched together to form a pattern.  

    • Appliquéd - Predominately pieces stitched to a base fabric.  

    • Mixed - Combined techniques of 50% piecing and 50% appliqué.   

  • Red River Quilters 2026 Type of Quilting Categories. 

    • Hand Quilted - Quilting stitches done by hand.  

    • Home Sewing Machine Quilted – the quilt moves to accomplish the stitching.  

    • Track Machine Quilted (long arm) – the machine moves to accomplish the stitching.
