WIO Suzanne Veronneau-Troutman Award
In pursuit of Women in Ophthalmology’s (WIO) goal to enhance and improve the professional environment for women ophthalmologists, the WIO Board of Directors is pleased to offer the annual WIO Suzanne Véronneau-Troutman Award, presented as part of the WIO reception held during the annual meeting of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO). Dr. Suzanne Véronneau-Troutman created an endowment with the AAO Foundation that allows for an award to be given annually. Nominations are open to any ophthalmologist who has done, in the opinion of the selection committee, the most in the immediate preceding year to advance and enhance the position of women in ophthalmology, and not necessarily to acknowledge a lifetime of professional accomplishment. Recipients must be a current dues-paying WIO member and may not have received the award previously. The recipient must be present to receive the award, unless there are exigent circumstances. A summary of the nominee’s accomplishments during the previous year to advance and enhance the position of women in ophthalmology should be provided in the nomination. A CV is not necessary. Supporting documents (e.g. clippings from professional or lay periodicals) may be submitted.
