The Throwdown is the Armory Art Center's annual fundraiser. The Throwdown consists of a live art competition between some of Florida's finest local artists, an all-inclusive silent auction, live music, and more.

Here's how it works: 

• 4-5 artists are chosen to be our official Throwdown competitors. Think of it as Iron Chef but for Artists.
• Artist will go head-to-head in a 90 minute art making competition.
• You will not know what supplies will be available until we unveil them right before the start of the competition.
• The winner is selected by the audience.
• All artworks will be auctioned off at the end of the evening.
• The winner will receive a solo exhibition in one of our galleries at a time to be determined. 
• Each selected artist will receive one ticket to the event to bring a guest. After the competition artist will be able to enjoy the event. 
• This is a fun and lively way to support your local arts community!  

Each selected artists are featured and promoted on our social media, Newsletter, TV's by our PR team and viewed creating artwork LIVE during the Throwdown event. This event is attended by around 150-200 people many of which are art collectors and supports. This year's event will take place on February 6, 2026 from 6-9:30pm at the Armory Art Center. All proceeds will go towards Armory's mission to inspire the creation and experience of art.

This application is open to all Florida-area artists. Applicants must submit up to three works of art in any medium that reflect their work/style, as well as a photo of themselves. These images will be used in promoting the applicant, their artwork, and the event if selected. If chosen you will receive a free ticket to the event for a guest. You may use your own tools/supplies in addition to what the Armory provides. The artwork created for The Throwdown will then be sold through a live auction at the end of the evening, with all proceeds to go to the Armory's programming and services. The artist whose piece gets the highest applause will be given the title of 2025 Throwdown Champion. The Champion agrees to a solo exhibition scheduled with the CEO with a date to be determined over the next year. Artists will be chosen to reflect a diverse range of artistic mediums and styles. Online submissions will be open from November 13th - December 12th . Selected receive notification of acceptance by Wednesday December 17th, 2025.
