  • Unique Student Identifier (USI)

From 1 January 2015, we Equinox College can be prevented from issuing you with a nationally recognised VET qualification or statement of attainment when you complete your course if you do not have a Unique Student Identifier (USI). In addition, we are required to include your USI in the data we submit to NCVER. If you have not yet obtained a USI you can apply for it directly at https://www.usi.gov.au/students/create-your-usi/ on computer or mobile device. You may already have a USI if you have done any nationally recognised training, which could include training at work, completing a first aid course or RSA (Responsible Service of Alcohol) course, getting a white card, or studying at a TAFE or training organisation. It is important that you try to find out whether you already have a USI before attempting to create a new one. You should not have more than one USI. To check if you already have a USI, use the ‘Forgotten USI’ link on the USI website at https://www.usi.gov.au/faqs/i-have-forgotten-my-usi/

  • Core Skills Assessment

    .
  • You are required to complete this Initial Core Skills Assessment as part of your enrolment.

Core skills and digital proficiency are critical to almost all areas of work. This is particularly true in many vocations where these skills influence the performance of workplace tasks such as comprehending written work instructions, producing written documents and using technology.

Equinox College has an obligation to ensure prospective students are provided with accurate and accessible information about the LLND proficiency needed to successfully participate in a training product prior to their enrolment.

Where a student is identified through this process that an LLND assessment is required (i.e that their assessed level is not at the level required to undertake the planned training), the Student Support Officer will consider if the difference between the your assessed level and the required course level is satisfactory to warrant a LLND support plan.

In general terms, LLND assessment is not intended to be a barrier to entry for undertaking training. Its primary purpose is to identify areas where you may need support so that these support arrangements can be put in place. It is only where the difference between the assessed level and the course level is so significant and there is a risk of your disadvantage that a support plan should not be considered.

  • Part 1: Reading (ACSF 3.03)

  • 1.    Read the paragraph below and answer the questions that follow.

In residential care homes and community settings across Australia, personal care workers assist individuals with daily activities such as showering, dressing, and mobility. Safe work practices are essential to prevent injury to both the client and the worker. One area of high risk is manual handling—lifting or moving clients without the proper equipment or technique. These tasks can lead to serious injury, especially to the back and shoulders. Organisations like WorkSafe Australia have strict guidelines to ensure safety. Carers must be trained in safe manual handling and use equipment like hoists or slide sheets whenever necessary.

  • Part 2: Writing (ACSF 2.06)

  • 2.    Answer the following questions in your own words.

  • Part 3: Numeracy (ACSF 2.09 & 3.03)
