  • MSYSA Recreational Grants Overview

  • Recreational Grants totaling $20,000 will be made available for the purpose of enhancing recreational soccer clubs and leagues within the State of Michigan. Any league or club currently affiliated with the Michigan State Youth Soccer Association may apply for a grant. Due to the limited natrue of the grant monies available, grants are designed to be small and no grant amount of $2,000 will be awarded. It is anticipated that most grants will be in the $500 range and consist of certificates, cash, or in-kind services.

The grant amount must be no more than 50% of the cost of the proposed total project. The club/league requesting a grant must be in good standing with MSYSA. A grant from MSYSA would be a one-time occurence and will be given in one amount.

To be successful, the grant must be on the forms provided, must be for the exclusive use of recreational programs and players, and must further the purpose of increasing membership, providing a new service, or improving the quality of current services. Incomplete submissions will not be considered.

The following are ideas for grant topics, but are, but no means, the only ideas that may be successful: outreach to schools to increase membership, existing TOPSoccer program needs, setting up a play day or tournament, long-range-planning process, player/coach handbook, financial software, startup newsletter costs, training equipment, coaching education, web page development, computer, software, etc.

All grants will be awarded at the MSYSA Awards Ceremony prior to the AGM. Leagues who are awarded with a grant must have someone attend the MSYSA Awards Ceremony to receive the grant award. If no one is present, the grant award is forfeited. The application will be osted on the MSYSA website at michiganyouthsoccer.org

A budget indicating exact anticipated expenditure of the monies will be submitted. Any attempt to ue the grant funds inappropriately will place the league or club in bad standing with MSYSA. A league or club with more than one level of play must certify that the funds are to be used totally to benefit only recreational players.

MSYSA's decision on grant winner is final. No record of deliberations will be made. All questions about the grant process must be made to the MSYSA Executive Director, Thomas K. Faro. All information must be listed, all documents attached, and the package is considered complete as issued. No add-ons documents will be accepted. Only one request per league/club will be accepted. The person completing the application may or may not be called for clarification of an item or items, but no additional materials may be issued.

The MSYSA Executive Director will make the final decision on grants including amounts. The MSYSA Executive Director reserves the right to present all, or part of the amount marked for disbursement.
