The South Coast Changemakers Forum is a 3 day event training 14 - 17 year olds to become leaders for positive change in their community. The Forum empowers young people through leadership, changemaking and community connection.

When: 4:30pm Friday 28th November - 3:00pm Sunday 30th November
Where: Waterslea Conference Centre, 439 Koloona Drive, West Cambewarra Cost: $50 per person (includes all food and accommodation)

The event will bring together high school students from across the South Coast for a weekend of leadership challenges, changemaking workshops, team building activities and discussion groups. The Forum allows young people to discover avenues for social change, strategies to implement changes within the community, and how individuals can be the change they want to see.

We encourage local high schools and community groups to invite young people with an interest in social change, activism, leadership and creativity to attend the forum. We celebrate diversity and encourage young people with all manner of opinions, abilities, backgrounds, passions and ideas to participate in the Forum.

Sonder Youth Ltd. is a charity run by young people, for young people. We empower regional young people across NSW to create positive change in their lives and communities. This program will be delivered by Sonder Youth Program Leaders, all of whom once participated in a Changemakers Forum themselves. Waterslea Conference Centre: 439 Koloona Drive, West Cambewarra NSW 2540.

Directions: From the north end of the Nowra Bridge, follow Illaroo Road for approximately 7km. Turn left onto Koloona Dr and follow this road for approximately 4kms until you see the signs for Waterslea. Take a left turn to follow the driveway to the conference centre.

Transport

Transportation to and from the event is to be arranged by parents/guardians or schools.

What To Bring

• Sleeping Bag or bed linen (one doona and one pillow is provided per student)
• Pillow slip
• Towel
• Toiletries
• Closed in shoes (for dining area and outdoor activities)
• Swimmers
• Sunscreen and insect repellent
• Positive attitude and willingness to participate

 

Facilities 

Single-gender boarding room facilities only. Room allocation will be determined by SCCF personnel. If you have any specific boarding requirements please outline on the Permission Form or by sending an additional email.

All food will be provided. Food allergies and special dietary requirements should be indicated in the Permission Form or additional email.

Physical activities including games and sport will be undertaken during the event. There will be access to the swimming pool at allocated times.

Full supervision by child-checked staff, volunteers and first aid personnel will be undertaken during all hours of the event.

I give permission for my child to attend the South Coast Changemakers Forum from 4:30pm Friday 28th of November - 3:00pm Sunday 30th November 2025 and I will pay the $50 participant cost.

I give permission for my child to swim in the pool and use the waterslide at Waterslea Conference Centre. This is a private pool and swimmers will be supervised by a lifeguard at all times.

Parents/guardians are required to arrange participant transport to and from the event. Participants are required to arrive at Waterslea Conference Centre by 4:30pm on Friday 28th of November and are to be picked up at 3:00pm at Waterslea Conference Centre on Sunday the 30th of November.

Please note the South Coast Changemakers Forum is an alcohol and drug free event. There is a zero- tolerance policy for consumption of drugs and/or alcohol, or anti-social behaviour. Students are expected to respect the views of other participants and act within the rules of the community. Parents/guardians will be required to collect participants who breach these guidelines. Sonder Youth Ltd reserves the right to refuse participation in its programs if Sonder Youth Ltd considers that such refusal is reasonably necessary to protect the safety and welfare of other program participants.
