This ia an application form for Academic Societies to apply for funding as part of the Sense of Belonging Funding at the Students' Union. All students will have the opportunity to get a free 6-week membership for their related course soceity. As part of this Academic Societies can apply for funding to provide welcome events, activities and items that will build a great connection between students on each course/school.

Free Trial Scheme Timeline

Below is a calendar look at the Free-trail period and the Schemes timeline at the start of the academic year, please use these dates to help you plan for the start of term.
Scheme Starts - The free trial period for academic societies starts this day.

4 Week Membership Free-Trial Period (15/09/25 - 12/10/25) - During this period you should plan around 1-2 events/activities a week to show case your society to new members and those who purchase the free-trial membership.

Free-Trail Membership expires - On this day the Free-Trial Memberships will expire, you should use this day to push communication to Free-trial members across your socials to now go and buy your full time membership. After this day only fully paid members can attend your events.

Conversion Weeks - Over the course of these two weeks you should plan exciting and interesting events/activties that will incrouage those who purchased your free-trial membership to now go buy the full time membership so they can attend the events.

Scheme end - This is the last date events can be funded from the Academic Society Fund.

Activities Plan

Please give us details of the events and activities that you have planned/ are planning during the scheme. This year all the activties/events you provide us will be added to the NUSU website, please provide as much detail as possible so that we can advertise you event for you.
Free Trial period Event/Activity 15/09/25 - 12/10/25 - These events should be fun activties that are related to your society and course and focus on building a sence of community. Focus on inclusive events (e.g. Sober) that show case what your society and the soceity community can offer over the course of the year.

Post Free Trial Event/Activity 13/10/25 - 26/10/25 - With the Free Trial memebrhsip over, people will need to buy the Full Memberhsip to attend the society going forward, you should plan a number of fun/exciting or a big event during these two weeks to give yourself something to promote to the free-trial memebrs and give them a reason to buy the full membership straight away.
