  • Job Descriptions: 

    Council Trainer: A Council trainer works with the Volunteer Education Coordinator to provides trainings to GSMIDTN volunteers at both GSMIDTN properties and in outlying locations. They are are part-time employees of GSMIDTN and active members of GSMIDTN who are trained and certified in one or more of GSMIDTN's required volunteer courses as well as courses for our older girls. Council trainers, as representatives of GSMIDTN as a whole, are always prepared, up-to-date on policies and procedures, and ready to share the required curriculum as well as their knowledge and the Girl Scout experiences. 

    Facilitator: A facilitator works with primarily the programs team to deliver programming both at GSMIDTN properties and in outlying locations. Adventure facilitators can be trained in high adventure (rock climbing, zip line, high and low challenge, swing by choice, rappelling, high teeter totter and crate stacking), aquatics, archery, and slingshots. Program facilitators work at council-sponsored programs to deliver provided curriculum around badges or themes, and generally support general program operations (kitchen, cleaning) in addition to leading programming. They also deliver programming in outlying locations for troops and service units who have requested specific programming in their area.

    Both trainers and facilitators are scheduled by GSMIDTN staff depending on their availability and desire to travel. Staff can be both a facilitator and a trainer and can comitt to working at camp properties, in the community, or both.

  • It is a required for both facilitators and trainers to be registered, background checked members of GSMIDTN (or another council in rare cases). The cost for one membership year is $45 and financial assistance is available. If you are hired, we will provide instructions on becoming a registered member as a condition of employment.
