• Cal-Wood on the Go School Registration 2025/2026

  • Bring the great outdoors into your classroom with our "Cal-Wood on the Go" guest speaker program! Designed to inspire curiosity and appreciation for the natural world, this engaging session will invite your students to delve into nature without leaving the classroom.  Our expert field instructors will come to you and lead a standards-based, hands-on lesson with plant and animal artifacts from Cal-Wood.

Art & Adaptations (for 4th Grade & Younger): Get ready for a fun, hands-on adventure where art and nature come together! Students will explore the amazing world of animal adaptations, learn what they are, and draw cool examples. Then, they'll use their creativity to design their very own unique animal with special adaptations. It’s the perfect mix of imagination and science!

Colorado’s Living Landscapes (for Upper Elementary and Middle School): Designed to inspire curiosity and appreciation for the natural world, this engaging session will invite your students to delve into the intricate food webs of Colorado's ecosystems. Students will explore how energy flows through our natural world, highlighting the relationships between producers, consumers, and decomposers with the Colorado Rocky Mountains as an example.

Tree Rings & Climate Clues (for High School Students): In this class, students will become "climate detectives" by unraveling the mysteries hidden in tree rings! They’ll discover how trees "write" a story of the planet’s climate through the rings they grow each year. By studying these patterns, students will uncover secrets about temperature, rainfall, and environmental changes—giving us clues about climate change and what the future might hold.

Target Audience: Not everyone can bring their classroom to experience Cal-Wood’s amazing landscapes.  This program can be an introduction to the animals and habitats of the Colorado Rockies.
