Education is an important mission of our parish. We welcome all families who desire a Christian Catholic education for their children, even those with limited financial resources. With the Fair Share Tuition program, no one should be excluded from attending St. Mary's School. In the Fair Share Program, you are asked to consider two things - the cost to educate your children and the amount you can honestly afford to pay. Because any parent commitment level that is less than full cost results in a subsidy from St. Mary's Parish, we ask that you prayerfully and carefully examine the value you place on a Catholic Education, the priorities you have established in the way you use your present resources, and the extent of your need.
This is also an opportunity for you to look at your family involvement in parish and school activities and examine what other ways you can serve and strengthen our community. All families need to share not only money, but also their time and talents to make our school and parish communities work.
Per Pupil Cost - In preparing the school budget for 2025-2026, the actual per pupil cost of educating a child @ St. Mary's School is approximately $7,206 per year. (total expenses / projected student enrollment) Funding for education is obtained from three main sources: subsidy from St. Mary's, St. Thomas, and St. Gall Churches, tuition, & fundraising. Church subsidy pays approximately $ 1,912.00 of the actual cost per child.
Tuition -
For the 2025-2026 school year, tuition is set at:
K - 8th grade- $3,700 per student
Preschool 4-5 year old- $2,000 per child per year.
Preschool 3-4 years old- $3,500 per child per year. (Pre 3-5 / extended day)
Tuition Assistance - Families desiring a Catholic education but who are unable to pay full tuition may fill out an application for financial assistance from St. Mary's Parish. Income, number of children in the school, and donations of time and necessary items are all factors that determine how much financial assistance, if any, a family will receive. The application form must be returned to the school office for review prior to registration. Families will be notified of assistance received, if any, prior to registration. Each family must sign a tuition contract prior to enrolling children at St. Mary's School.
Parents able to pay the actual per-pupil cost of educating their child ($7,206) are encouraged to do so and make a tax-deductible donation for the difference between tuition and actual cost.
Honesty is the key to success in the Fair Share Tuition Plan. Commitments are made based upon mutual trust and they are held in the strictest confidence.
*Church subsidy comes from the plate collections of church members from St. Mary's Church, Breckenridge, St. Thomas Church, Kent, and St. Gall's, Tintah.
