• Application for Scholarship Application - LVT Program

    Penn Foster
  • Texas Litter Control reimburses tuition costs for eligible employees wanting to pursue becoming a Licensed Vet Technician (LVT) through the Penn Foster veterinary program.

The Penn Foster veterinary program is an online veterinary technician program, fully accredited by the AVMA-CVTEA and prepares you to sit for your VTNE (Veterinary Technician National exam) to become a (LVT) Licensed Veterinary Technician.  This program is self-paced and requires self-discipline and dedication.

The course is broken into 4 semesters with 2 externships.  You have up to 12 months to complete each semester.  The externships are in the 2nd semester (large animal) and the 4th semester (small animal). The externships cannot be completed at Texas Litter Control since we are not a full-service or large animal clinic.  You will be required to arrange your externship with another clinic.  Externships are unpaid by TLC.

You must meet the following criteria to be eligible for this reimbursement:

    1. Full Time with Texas Litter Control for at least 6 months.
    2. No disciplinary action within the last 6 months.
    3. An interview will be conducted with you and your immediate supervisor.  We will be evaluating whether you can demonstrate the level of commitment it will take to complete the schooling along with being employed full-time.
    4. We will be evaluating (if applicable) how long it is taking you to complete the semesters and how well you are doing.
    5. Once you are licensed, you are willing to remain employed by TLC for a minimum of 2 years.

Scholarships are awarded on a semester by semester basis.  You must apply prior to each semester for reimbursement.  Your application does not guarantee you will receive a scholarship.

  • I understand that if I receive this scholarship through Texas Litter Control it will only be available to me while I am a Texas Litter Control employee. If I am terminated or leave the company during an active semester, the scholarship will be dissolved, and I will be expected to pay back a portion of the tuition.

I understand that my grades and work performance will be evaluated at the end of each semester to determine if I am meeting my academic goals and if Texas Litter Control will sponsor the next semester.

Upon completion of the Penn Foster veterinary technician program, Texas Litter Control will cover the cost of me taking the VTNE (Veterinary Technician National Exam) to earn my state license.  If I fail the exam, I will be responsible for the costs of retaking the exam. The test can be retaken up to 5 times, a registration fee is required at each retest.

I understand that upon receiving my LVT, I will remain with Texas Litter Control for 2 years from the date my license is instated, to compensate Texas Litter Control for the costs of my education.
