The board of directors will be voting at the next meeting to appoint the acting GM to a permanent position. Here are the following reasons to not support this action:   1) The job description was never finished, posted for other candidates to apply, or vetted with the Village. Given the disastrous hire of our previous CEO and the COO's departure both with HUGE SEVERANCE PACKAGES, we need to get it right this time.  2) The new position will require a completely different set of knowledge, skills, and experience going forward,  because all of the board candidates have outlined policies, practices, and processes that are entirely different from what we have experienced under the retiring board.  3) Our POA board is currently in disarray. Two board members have suddenly resigned, and the board President will not be running again. 4) We are close to entering into litigation with the State of TN over the very policies and practices that the current board put in place. They have been disqualified from taking any significant decisions that are not “time sensitive” and urgent, which this clearly is not.  5) The individual being considered has been the chief promoter of the solutions to our water/sewer issues and was hired by our departed CEO.  5) In all organizations, new management gets to pick its team, because they are responsible for the results. This move to hire before the new board is seated is against all norms of good governance practice.
